Dr. Paul Thomas is the best! New practice opens June 1 right on Barnes Road West of St. Vincent Hospital. www.integrativepediatricsonline.com
We were using Dr. Bruce Birk as our Peds. We had a horrible experience with him and are not returning back to him. I have heard great things about Dr. Bix. Any other good referral for downtown to the west side?

I just have to second this -- we have been with Bruce Birk for 12 years. I have hated every minute of it, but other than his personality, his medical advice has been essential okay. However, I finally had it with his personality -- and I am beginning to wonder if it really is serving us well as far as the medical referrals, etc. So, I am leaving him. I've heard that the nurses there find him insufferable. On the other hand, I have seen some good referrals about him from some folks, so it's obviously a personal preference thing. What did you find troubling about him?
Hi, I interviewed Dr. Bix before my daughter was born. She seemed very nice but she also believes in homeopathy. I do not. But I love the Metro Ped. practice and my daughter sees Dr. Feree there. She's fantastic.
Good luck.

Hi C.: Sorry to hear you had a bad experience with Dr. Birk at Portland Pediatrics. It's good to know since my daughter's doctor is in the same practice. I wouldn't give up on the practice though, I have had a great experience with our doctor, Dr. Gopal, she's absolutely great - my daughter responds to her very well and she has been very thorough and attentive to our needs. Her bio is online as well so you can see her background. I interviewed quite a bit before selecting her. I also had a very good experience at that practice with Dr.s Pilar Buerk and Mary Kay Evans-Smith when Dr. Gopal was out on maternity leave this winter.

I have seen several other requests along these lines and the one practice that I see recommended most frequently is Sunset Pediatrics, which is located in St. Vincent Hospital. We have been seeing Dr. Snyder who is the founder for 5+ years and have never encountered such a warm and wonderful doctor. I have had a couple of visits with Dr. Erickson and Dr. McClosky and they are both fantastic, too.
We have used Dr. Paul Thomas for both kids, he is great, very relaxed, easygoing, and patient. He loves kids, has like seven of his own, I highly recommend. He has an office at Petercourt and Tanasbourne.
I'd like to put in another plug for Dr. Paul Thomas - he's wonderful. He's currently at Westside Pediatrics, but is starting his own practice on June 1st. Check out his website at http://integrativepediatricsonline.com/
Hi,
I am a nurse also, I have had clients who are very happy with Dr Bix.
I have to admit my all time favorites are at Sunset Pediatrics-now located in the Med Off Building at St V's----look into Dr McCloskey, Dr Ericksen, Dr Knapp, and Dr Snyder. ###-###-####
Hope that helps.

I know other parents who have had problems with him and switched to Dr. Jack Schunk in the same office. He is fabulous!!!
Dr. Mary Horrall at the Portland Clinic in Beaverton is the best! My kids are now 16 & 12 and we have used her from the start. She makes you feel good as a mom and the kids love her too!
Dr. Burton at Metropolitan Pediatrics is amazing. My husband and I are always in awe at how calm and serene our baby is in her office. She is great!
Dr. Bix is good and the other DRs at Metropolitan Peds are good - very easy to talk to. Dr. Bix spends a LOT of time with you during the well baby check ups. I never feel rushed.
