A new Reflexology place just opened up near my home. I was wondering if anyone has ever gone to reflexologist? I researched a bit on it and found out that it entails pressure points on your hands and feet to relieve stress and tension. I'm a bit uncomfortable about going to a massage therapist, just because I don't feel comfortable about someone else touching me, but I am considering this reflexology place. Is it worth going? Does it actually work? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well, I finally took the intiative and went to Queen Creek Reflexology. The reflexologist did a great job. The room was very comfertable and relaxing. He started by having me put my feet in warm water to soak. I then leaned back on the chair and he started to massage my temples and face. He then moved down to my neck, shoulders, arms, and hands. From there he then had me remove my feet from the water and worked my feet and then my ankles and lower legs. Once he completed with that area, he lowered the chair and had me lay down on my stomach. He worked my shoulders and back and upper legs.

It was more then I had expected. I had thought that they only work your hands and feet. Well worth it for anybody considering it. The best part is you stay fully clothed. You only need to wear comfortable shorts or pants that can be rolled up to the knee.

I haven't felt that rejuventated in a long time. I will definitely do it again. Thank you to all that encouraged me to go.

Reflexology is awesome! It is very relaxing and theraputic. If you are uncomfortable about someone else touching you, the reflexologist only touches from your ankles to your toes. The rest of you stays comfortably covered up. It is amazing how pressure points on your feet can relieve tension in your neck. OR an alternative is accupuncture. THAT was the most relaxed I've ever been. It is not painful at all. I used it to stay relaxed to quit smoking. That was over 7 years ago. There are many Licensed Massage Therapists that are professional and are trained to make you feel comfortable.
Hope all that helps you.

I had reflexology done evey week when I was prego with my first. I loved it. I had a very good friend that was a therapist and had been doing it for 20+ years. I think that you will enjoy it and how much you enjoy or recieve from it will depend on who you work with. I would give it a go relax and enjoy.

I am a reflexologist in Chandler (www.SkinGoddessSpa.com) and can tell you that reflexology is very effective in balancing and de-stressing a person, stimulating circulation and moving lymph in the body. You may find that there is some tenderness in spots you didn't even know were sore, but your session should not be really painful. It's important that your therapist "checks in" with you during your session.

I've worked on infants, teens, adults and those with special needs, and found that there is benefit for all.

Enjoy!

I love getting reflexology treatments. It is alot less invasive. Sometimes my feet are sensitive and I have to ask the reflexologist to be more gentle until that area is worked out so to speak. It is so relaxing.

Hi :>). My mom knows about reflexology. When I was growing up when I had really bad head aches she would "work" my feet. You can go to any book store and find the chart of the hands and feet so you know what to expect. I still work my hands for aches and pains it still works. When my son was a baby he had gas so bad he was screaming. I called my mom she said make him some fennel seed tea, work his feet, and rub his belly. In 20 minutes he was calm and ready for bed. I've used the tea too so I know it works.
:>) have a good day

I had a trained friend demonstrate reflexology on me an it was eerily invigorating and energizing and helpful. It also seemed to have helped me quit smoking (but I'm seriously on again off again with that so it's more like "this time.")

It hurts, though. It's intense pressure and while it's being applied it can be unpleasant (not awful, but noticeable) but afterwards the effects are pretty intensely positive. Acupuncture is much less painful and works on similar processes. So, it depends on your pain tolerance and what you're comfortable with.

Hi C.,
I own a spa and have two wonderful gal that totally enjoy not only providing reflexology, but also the wonderful benefit it provides. My girls primarily work on the feet however; the hands also have the same nerve endings the feet do to help with stress and pain, with the best part it being very non-invasive. Most Massage Therapist, are trained in making the client feel comfortable and at ease especially if you are a newbie.

As far as it actually working yes it does my own experience goes clear back to when I was 12 when starting my periods and ended up having a period nonstop for 3 months. It was reflexology on the feet working in the areas of the areas of the feet that correlate to the female organs that I believe helped me finally break the pattern of which by the way I had been diagnosed with malfunctioning ovaries.

My therapists explain that basically you can receive the benefits of a full body massage through reflexology since that is the full connection to our bodies. I encourage you to take the leap and enjoy the full benefits that massage therapy and reflexology have to offer. Take care, D.

Hi cathy,
I am a massage therapist, I took reflexology in school. I would give it a chance, I am one of those people who really don't like feet and the thought of someoone touching mine was a bit disquisting.. After a few classes I was very well relaxed and even fell asleep.. It made me feel very refreshed and grounded after the session was over... So I say just give it a chance and she what it does for you.... Hope you find this helpful..

Hi! My husband simply SWEARS by foot reflexology. He was so sick before we met that he could hardly function, and had gone to loads of medical and naturopathic doctors before finding this foot reflexologist that "nursed him back to health" so to speak. Now he recommends everyone! However, I am just passing that on as my husband's opinion. Obviously, different techniques seem to work better for different people, and whenever someone makes something sound like a goldmine to me, then I end up disappointed, so, with that in mind, you may want to give it a try, but the particular reflexologist my husband went to may just be particularly gifted. I don't know that I would compare it to massage though. It is more of a healing and diagnosis technique from what I have seen than a relaxation technique (although massages can be healing too I believe). In fact, some people this woman has worked with have become more sick initially after a treatment than they were when they came in since the body started to cleanse itself. Anyway, it never hurts to try something once and see what you think (except maybe a little around the pocketbook area!).

My mother in law just went to Queen Creek Reflexology on Higley Rd on opening day, which was Saturday. She came home and could not stop talking about the experience. She said she was a bit sore and it was a little painful, but she felt great afterward. She felt so good that she convinced my husband to go. He went less than an hour later and he had the same great experience. He is not one for touching either, but he said that he really felt good afterward. I noticed that he was a lot more upbeat and positive for the rest of the weekend too! He said that it hurt too, but the pain pretty much went away an hour later. I would give it a try-I think I am going to give it a try too!

It is very therapeutic! Of course, the better the therapsit, the better the results. It also depends on you and your motivation. If you are open and desiring healing, reflexology is a wonderful tool to help make that happen.
