Hi Moms,

My husband and I are planning a renewal of vows ceremony next spring, and I'm looking for some creative, inexpensive things to include in the ceremony, or any informaiton on traditions or customs specifically Italian and Mexican. We are going to include our children, as well as all of our nieces and nephews (13 kids, ranging in ages from 3-12). I also am very practicle in that I don't want to spend 20000 on this one day since we are already married, one area i'm having the most issues with is flowers - they are so expensive - and a veil I don't feel that i should ware a viel since we are already married (and with kids)

What can I do next?

A girlfriend of mine got married and she had the most beautiful flowers and she bought them at Costco.

They were very inexpensive but the quality of the flowers was incredible.

You may want to check that out.

As for the veil "why not" wear one. Ask your husband what is his favorite color and chose a gown & veil to match his color choice - unless you have a color in mind.

My aunt re-married and she did this "her wedding was incredible".

How exciting! My hubby and I didn't have the traditional reception after you get married, but planned a renewal of vows ceremony and reception for friends and family. I didn't want to hire outside entertainers for the reception so I asked family members to sing or dance. You could cut cost in flowers by purchasing in bulk and having your family put the bouquets together. Martha Stewart has some great ideas for making invitations, centerpieces, and favors. The kids in your bridal party can wear their favorite party dress/suit so you don't have to spend for each person. I don't think you need to wear a veil. You could wear a crown, put pearls in your hair, or adorn with minimal jewelry. Hope this helps! Good luck and have a blast planning with your family.

For flowers I've seen the girls just carry a single rose or calalilly. It was simple, yet tasteful and would reduce your cost.

Sounds like fun! Remember what people tend to forget about weddings in general: it's your party and you can do whatever you want to! You can wear what you want. What would make you feel special - what do you see yourself looking lovely in? Since you used the word "should" (as in you don't feel you should wear a veil), I suspect you are worried that people would not think it was appropriate. Wear a veil if you want to, and don't if not. None of it matters - it's your personal expression of the celebration that counts! Have some fun with it. One Mexican custom I love is the pinata for birthday parties - you could have a pinata for the kids at the reception, whether it's a wedding custom or not!

I got my flowers from a nursery I dont know where you live but Busy Bee in Glenwood is where I got them very great priced for my wedding, it cost me under $1000 total but I put roses on my tables at the reception so that is where a bulk of the cost came in but I had 10 people on each side and the flowers for that cost under $500 I priced many places and that was the cheapest.

You could also to the silk flower route as well that is an option I looked into. Good luck!

Ask or look around to rent a yard arch, might be called arbour,. It is like a doorway with a curved top. You could decorate with flowers or simply ballons, and stand under the arch to renew your vows with your family and friends around you
