Reusable Sandwich Bags?

I bought some on Etsy. They seller did a wonderful job and I liked that I was supporting a fellow crafter!

I bought a set from Target. They were good enough for chips but they don't seal so the sandwiches tend to get stale. I like them but don't love them. I find I have to think about what's going in them. Could it go stale? Then not the best choice. Perhaps you'll have better luck or receive better suggestions.

I use the more expensive one for wet stuff, like grapes, because it's got better lining.

I usually use two or three bags at a time for my son's snack and lunch. I like having the extras just so that I don't have to wash them immediately after every single use.

We use the munchin reuseable snack bags. I found them at Walmart in the baby aisle. We like them a lot. They work great. They clean easily enough and we haven't had any issues with them leaking. I haven't looked to see if a sandwich size is available (my kiddo rarely eats sandwiches), but here's what I am talking about....

I have ReUsies for my son's lunch. I got them as a Groupon and decided to try them out, they have a website by the same name. For mine you can't machine wash them, they have to be hand washed. I have two, one for in use and one for when the other is dirty or being washed. I have to admit I don't wash them everyday, I do a spot check of course, but it's usually pretty clean.

They work great for sandwiches and veggies, but if I pack crackers or fresh fruit I have to pack it the morning of right before he leaves otherwise they go bad before he can eat them. There is only a velcro "seal" with the one's I have so there's too much air getting to the food so it either dries it out or makes them soft. That's my only complaint, otherwise they work great and are easy to clean.

Another sort of issue I've had is that my son has been caught by his childcare teacher throwing the bags away. Thankfully, she's caught him each time so they've been saved, but not sure if this will be a problem when she's not there to stop him ;)

I use the little plastic sandwich containers (an Elmo for little guy, a sports one for big guy, they cost like $1.19 each), that are the exact size of a sandwich, and that's the basic sandwich box. My husband eats 2 sandwiches so I use a ziploc or gladware plastic container (the kind you'd put leftovers in) for his: it fits 2 sandwiches with a little room at the top left over. The spinach leaves, halved tomato slice, and pickles go in a little plastic bowl with a lid. (Actually those bowls were from ordering "to go" food from a bbq place, and something small---maybe sauce or a small potato salad---was packed in those little bowls with the tight fitting lid). I don't think they'd like reaching into a bag to get a tomato or whatever and getting the back of their hands wet or whatever). I pack the veggies separate from the sandwich so that it doesn't get the bread soggy by the time lunch comes, unless I'm serving a feta cucumber sandwich---then, the bread is toasted and they've never complained about soggy bread from feta and cucumber slices.

If using sandwich bags (which I do sometimes, if I'm using the bigger bottle for juice instead of the little one and need more flexible space in the lunchbox): I use store brand sandwich bags with the zip close because the older snap in place kind is too hard for kids to do properly. At the end of the day, I'll just turn them inside out and wash what was the inside by hand (liquid soap, warm water, not hard to do). I dry it with a cloth and set them standing up (opening on bottom) to dry. Sandwich bags get reused unless...I just don't feel like it that day. Quart bags (also store brand) are for dividing up meats by the pound. Gallon bags are always Ziploc brand freezer bags that I label with what's in it and the date, put the quart sized bags of meats into (4 of those can fit in 1 gallon), and throw in the freezer. And there's the breakdown of our family storage junk. :)

I've been using some ZAK brand bags I found on clearance at Target. It was like $3 for a 2-pack. Ours have Spider Man on them. So far I just need the 2 for his lunch bag, as I tend to send with him either a sandwich or wrap, and some loose fruit (strawberries or grapes) or if I am doing a whole fruit (banana or apple), I use the 2nd bag for veggies. If I am doing the loose fruit I just put the veggies in a Tuppperware type container.

I use the ziplock sandwich bags or the store brand version.

One for the sandwich. One for chips or similar. And my kids brought them home so I could use them again.

Another option could be biodegradable wax paper sandwich bags. The cost is minimal and the bags don't harm the environment.

I'm in my fourth school year with a box of pre-cut deli paper sheets. I fold sandwiches in them. It's not quite wax paper - I think it's not as thick as that. I recently bought some stainless steel containers for packing fruit and crackers that are easy for my kindergartener to open. I like the idea of the reusable bags but they seemed a little expensive and I was afraid I wouldn't be able to clean them to my satisfaction.

I had my son, years ago, bring back the bags. I just said put them all back in your lunch box and I will decide which ones I can reuse the next day.

I got my girls the reusies and I like them alot but they are pretty big. I end up putting my 4 year old's morning snack in hers (I can fit a gerber smoothie and some fruit snacks in it!) and put both the sandwich AND chips in my 11 year old's. Here's the link:
