Riviera Maya

I would recomend not going there. We went 2 years ago. A few months after Rita and it is just a hassle, or extremely expensive to take cabs, to get around outside of the resorts. If you have no desire to leave the resort, then you may enjoy it. They just had another hurricane go through there.

I would HIGHLY recommend Puerto Vallarta though. It is a really fun place and easy to get around.

If you do go to RM, stay in a highly rated resort, so that you have the most to do since you'll probably want to spend most of your time there.

We stayed at the Catalonia Riviera Maya in Puerta Adventuras in May '05. It was very nice, a little big but not huge. It had I think 5 different pools and tons of activities for kids and adults (in the pool, out of the pool), all kinds of sports. It also had a lagoon part off of the carribean that was calm and a bit warmer for the kids to swim in. We didn't have kids at the time but I would definately take our son there.

We stayed at the Gala Resort about 6 years ago and although we didn't have kids at that time, it was very kid-friendly and had pool activities as well as other activities for the kids. Not sure if it's still as kid-friendly, but you might want to check and see. And our room was right off the beach.

I too am looking for a vacation like that. If you find something let me know. I have done all inclusive vacations in riviera maya before but that was before I had children. I would like to take my 3 year old next time so if you find something and enjoy it let me know if you could please
