Sahms - What Do You like Best About Being a SAHM?

Aside from being able to be with my kids and know they are well cared for because they're with me.......

The top 3 things I like best about being a SAHM is:
1. I can wear anything I want. I don't have to get all dressed up like I did in the corporate world. But if there's ever a day when I want to dress up nicer, I can. I love that I have that choice. This came to my mind this morning because I was working temporarily in an office for some friends last week and I had to dress up, which was okay, but I was so happy to put on my capri sweats and a tshirt this morning and hang around the house.
2. I make my own schedule. I'm the boss :)
3. I can usually have most or all of dinner made sometime during my day, so when dinner time is here, it's ready to serve with very little effort.

What do you like best about being a SAHM?

What can I do next?

Nurturing my little ones growth physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Seeing a child achieve each milestone with joy is the greatest gift. Showing appreciation to my husband by making his life less stressful and acknowledging his hardwork and him mine.

Being the person who has ultimate say so in the big and not-so-big everyday things that go on in my young children's lives. The biggest influence, the chef, the teacher, etc.... This way i can be sure they are getting everything i would want for them and more.

I feel so lucky to stay at home and know that some people cant.

Watching my child grow. I want to be the one to see all of the "first". Sometimes I get frustrated with all the work(dishes, laundry, etc) of being a sahm but then when I see my child smile or giggle, it makes it all worth it!

I love being there for everything. All the firsts were seen by me.
My kids are secure in their surroundings.
I can kiss every boo-boo.
I can stay in bed until the kids crawl in and make me get up.
Snuggles can happen anytime during the day.
Knowing my kids are safe and not exposed to things I don't know about.
And many more.

Being with my kids...Knowing they are ok...Instead of constantly waiting for a phone call saying one of them is sick...or something.

I lvoe the fact I can make my own Schedule..Although this freedom has made it a bit annoying...when I have gone back to work the few times I have....I get so used to doing what I want..That having to be somewhere and do stuff OTHER people want(other then my family)is sorta a slap in the face....This is why I can not make the track back to a retail career....When it comes down to it, retail is the worse thing anyone could have to do...that and wait tables. People have forgotten how to be nice!

I love the fact that I dont miss field trips and school stuff. I think that being behind my kids every step of the way when it comes to education is a very important thing. Schools have gotten tough. The people in them have gotten tough. You have to work so much harder now to stay ahead and be noticed...You can no longer just show up..Showing up is only half the battle. So, being here for their education is probably the most important thing I could do for my kids!!

Great question. All to often I forget why I am here doing this. It is very easy to get overwhelmed and bitter when things are not going great! In reality though, it is the best job I have ever had!

1) When my daughter was not in schoool, starting kindergarten this fall, but for the time she was not in school I was with her all day and was able to see just about ever milestone she achieved as well as creating this great trust and mother/daughter bond that hopefully will stay with us through out our lives.

2) Now that my daughter will be in school I know I will enjoy being able to volunteer at her school and other places that I have always wanted to volunteer at (pet shelter, homeless shelter, church).

3) Making my own schedule. Now I do work very part time in the evenings BUT I only take events that I want to, so still in charge of my schedule :)
