Sams Club Business Membership

We have had a regular membership for Sams Club (now expired), but I am wondering if I would be able to get a business membership. Or is it worth it?

I don't really have a regular business. I sometimes work part-time as a Web programmer under a business name I use. But nothing is licensed or anything. Any paychecks are just written to my name. I do claim this work on taxes using the business name.

Does this count? lol

What are the benefits of a business membership that would work for just home/family shopping? (Other than shopping during special business hours).

I know you can have a 2nd cardholder (hubby), but can't you have people sign up under your business account? Is that cheaper?

Just wondering if I should try it, before I do try it & they tell me I'm an idiot for trying haha

Thanks!

To have a business account you have to have a tax-id number from the state. My business has one, and every year when we renew I have to fax or bring them a copy of the state tax-id form. So I'm not sure if you can get a business account without that. It enables us to purchase things without paying the tax, since the items are for resale. We also get the better hours. Other than that I don't think there are extra benefits.

As for the poster who says Wal-Mart won't do anything for you because they're in business for themselves.... I think that's what owning and running a business is mostly about. Making a good profit so you can live your life comfortably and hire others to benefit as well. (That's what my business is about, but on a much smaller scale.) Costco does the same thing actually. And I have a business membership there as well but the hours and prices aren't as good as Sam's -- so they're really doing NOTHING for me, whereas Sam's is. :-)

As far as I know the Business has to have an account with Sam's Club. I had one once because my mom's work had a business account with them. She had to have the main account and they added me on to her account. Shopping just for home, I did not notice anything different accept the hours.

I don't know what a business membership entails, but we get the one that costs $100/year, and then we get rewards back at the end of the year, which
usually total at least $300 between the Amex reward and the Costco reward, so the $100 pays for itself. To get $300 rewards, we usually spend around $600 or so a month at Costco, sometimes more.

We have Costco business. It is in our business name. I don't use the credit cards or rewards program with it. I go about once every 8-10 weeks and spend about $600/trip.

I only use 1 credit card for business through BOA and get cash back at the end of the year.

I don't know anything about Sam's. We go out of our way to avoid any Walmart, Sam's or anything related to Sam Walton's companies. We despise their business practices. Sam's/Walmart will do absolutely NOTHING for you...they are in business for themselves.
