We are planning a trip to Sea World San Antonio in April. I think our 4 year old son will really enjoy it. Our almost 1 year old son will be also with us. What are some great hotels to stay at in San Antonio? What other attractions in San Antonio will be appealing for a 4 year old that we should go to? What are some good restaurants in that area that are kid friendly? We plan to leave Dallas Friday morning and get back Sunday evening. Is there anything along the way (in Austin or other towns) that we should stop and visit? Thanks for your recommendations.

What can I do next?

We went this past September for a quick weekend. We also stayed at the Radisson Hill Country. It was great for families and the shuttle to Seaworld was very convenient and saved parking money/hassle. I saw lots of neat caves and caverns along the way that we will stop and do next time, but we just didn't have time on that trip. We plan to go back in 2008 and take a week to see and do everything in that area.

My husband and I took our daughter when she was about 8 months old and we stayed at the Homewood Suites on the riverwalk. We were upgraded to a 2 bedroom suite and it was wonderful. Our room was the size of a large apartment with a small kitchen and 2 bedrooms with bathrooms. It was a great setup for children, and I would highly recommend it. Plus it had a pretty good location within walking distance to a lot of the attractions on the Riverwalk, although we did have difficulty manuevering a stroller through the lower Riverwalk area, but that would've been the case wherever we stayed. Good luck and have a great trip!

Great choice! We took our daughter when she was 2 and had a ball. We would have gone this last summer but I was very, very pregnant and uncomfortable. We stayed at the Radison Resort Hill Country and will stay there for all other trips we make to that area. It is very family oriented. It is less than a mile away from Seaworld and has a free shuttle that runs back and forth all day and drops you at the hotel entrance and the Seaworld entrance. This was great because we didnt have to worry about parking and the cost and we were able to go back to the hotel for a nap in the afternoon and for dinner. The hotel also has a kids pool, does Smores for the kids by the outside fire pits, and the thing I liked best about it was that our hallway was full of other families like us. So, I didn't have to worry too much about our daughter running down the hallway on the way back to our room or being a little loud because other kids were doing the same thing. We reserved 2 days for Seaworld, but we did go during the summer and spent almost all of 1 day at the waterpark area. I would also recommed the Childrens Museum in the downtown area by the Riverwalk. It is like the Dallas Children's Museum and has a ton of pretend play areas for the kids. Our daughter had a ball riding on a trolley, being a cowgirl, flying an airplane, playing in the Science area, working as a dentist etc etc. The play areas all have pretend clothes for the kids to wear and really play the part and they have a real airplane cockpit and trolley inside. My husband and I even had fun with it. Sorry I have rambled forever. I hope this helps and have a great trip.

Hey DD,
My husband and I stayed here recently and it is super close to Sea World (practically across the highway). Anyway, parent and kid friendly I thought. Golf course, spa, small playground, buffets and sit down on sight, gym with kids area. Very neat pool and lazy river (probably too cold for that but. It was for our anniversay so it was a splurge place for us. Hope it helps. Oh it is about 30-45 from downtown San Antonio Riverwalk (we had been there before so didn't care about that).

We stayed at Homewood Suites right on the Riverwalk. It was very reasonable, big, and a good location if you're going to spend time on the riverwalk. They also had a free breakfast buffet in the mornings. We walked to Children's Museum one day. Also, Rainforest Cafe is a great place for kids. It's a little pricey, but my 4 year old LOVED it!!! Expect longer waits. Good luck!

A friend and her family stayed there and said it was very nice and family-oriented...lots of activities. And it's right across the street from SeaWorld!!

We took our one year old, now two, last April and he enjoyed it alot. He missed the main show, fell right asleep as soon as Shamu came out!!! We stayed at a nice hotel on the NW side. The name escapes me, but they were very accomodating. I wanted to stay at the Marriot NW again, but my husband chose a different location. AVOID the Strawberry Festival at all costs. I was very disappointed and that was one of the main things I wanted to do. I was getting my son ready for bed tonight and he picked up a picture from SeaWorld of the three of us. I asked him where he was. He said, huh? I said, SeaWorld and he repeated me and then told his Daddy. It was too cute. Have a great time! I hope the weather is perfect for you as it was for us last year.
