I attended high school in Plano and my daughter is enrolled in Denton ISD (this would be your school district if you move). And my mom lives in Savannah. So I actually think I can help you with this since I know about both locations. If your number one concern is schools - don't move to Savannah. Plano schools are very much superior to Denton ISD schools, I am sorry to say. If I could afford to move to Plano to my kids in those schools, I would be there in a second. The elementary and middle schools that your kids would attend are not bad, but Denton HS is not the greatest. Certainly not as good as Plano high schools.

On the other hand, Savannah is a very nice community. It has a great pool, nice people. The small-town feel. But it is quite a ways away from everything. You would have to go to Little Elm to do your shopping. But it's definitely a buyer's market out there right now because of the fact that home prices have severely dropped.

A lot of pros and cons. It's a big decision. Good luck

I live in Providence, the sister community, and we love it here. Very community oriented and family friendly. We are in Aubrey School District and it's a very good experience so far.

I know where you are talking about and we have an acquaintance who lives there. It is not the best drive out on 380 either. It was just too far out for our iinterest plus it appears to have a lot of sizzle. Sizzle is nice but you need some steak to go with it if you know what I mean.

I personally would not remove my child from the Plano ISD. My daughter is now a Senior and the Plano schools are great (of course there is a bad apple school here and there but overall they are great) Our current Sr High school is in the top 1% of High Schools in America. She has attended Blue Ribbon and Exemplary schools since K.

I know nothing about the schools in the Savannah area. Go online to their ISD site to look at all the data, graduation ratios, 3 of graduates that go to college, etc.

Another site to look at school is greatschools.org.

Good luck with whatever you choose!!

We've live here in Savannah for about 4 1/2 years. I'm so happy in my community. That is really what I feel like it is here, "a community." If your willing it is very easy to be involved with others. My oldest daughter is in second and my oldest son is in 1st. Both children are having a positive experience in Savannah Elementary (we have our own elementary). Their teachers thus far have encouraged them to challenge themselves and enhance their areas of strength.
Be aware that there is an HOA with significant annual dues, they are also strict on enforcing HOA code. For me it's the neighbors that make this place a positive one. The amenities are nice, but not the beat all end all.

I think it has already been suggested, but I would go to their website to look at all the emenities if you haven't already. They neighborhood has a ton of features that make it appealing to a variety of people. As far as the drive, I would definitely try to make the drive during the times of day that you would be making the drive and on several different days to see if it is going to be an issue for you. I know some of my clients like a commute and consider it "wind down" time, while others want to be home as quickly as possible.

Although the schools may not be ranked the highest, I am a strong believer that parent involvement makes all the difference in the world. My kids are in Denton ISD and are doing great. I stay involved. We were in Flower Mound before, and I can tell you my kids are growing and thriving (and more well rounded) now than when they were out there.

If you do not already have an agent, I would be happy to assist you in your research and in helping you find your new home, pleas feel free to give me a call or shoot me an email.

Sincerely,
K. M.
