Moms PLEASE help me. I took my son to the doctor because he has some kind or little red spots on his body. And she said it was just a rash. Weeks later I took my son again he is almost 5 yrs. old. Because the little spots were still on his body and more were coming once he would scratch. This time his doctor was not in but another one and he told me that it looked like scabies. He just said that my son could of gotten them from school and now its all over his body and he just gave me some cream. But now my daughter has it and my lil one too, even us parents. Please what else can I do. The cream is to be used every 7 days. I need more than that cream. Thank you so very much.

I am a vet technician and scabes or sarcoptic mange is very contagious. We see it in lots of stray dogs and some household pets. It can be transmitted to humans just by petting the dog or from humans to dogs. It is so easy to treat in dogs because all you have to do is give an injection of ivermectin and the mites die. My son caught it years ago and we used a lotion with lindane in it which is now banned I believe. The cream sounds like the way to go and lots of cleaning. Good luck.

II am so sorry ~ this sounds just awful. I would be at a Peoples Pharmacy as soon as you can get there. They will give you proper supplements to support the body's immune system as well as the necessary supplements to discourage this from spreading. Drugs and cremes can be used but more often than not, they are a band-aid when what you really need to do is to address the underlying/root causes. Unless you strengthen the immune system, you will be fighting an uphill battle.

Do not be alarmed. I got scabies as a kid, 6 or 7.

I remember I was not allowed to sit on any of the furniture w/o a sheet covering it. As soon as I was done, my mother would wash the sheet. Also, my mom washed my sheets and pillow cases every morning along with my clothes. Basically, I was not allowed to wear the same clothes for a period of time and I could not sit or touch anything that could not be washed immediatley.

Also, my mom gave me several baths a day and applied the cream.

I hope this helps.

I believe scabies is the same as sarcoptic mange, which is actually caused by a tiny mite. You are right, it is going to take more than a cream because the mite has infested your home. You will have to have bedding and carpet steam cleaned and possibly need to contact an exterminator. Good luck.

My step-son had scabies. I don't think you are using the cream correctly. The instructions for my stepson were to apply the cream all over the body, especially in crevices, adn go to bed. Get up, strip the bed and take a shower and wash thoroughly. Wash the bedding in hot soapy water and dry in a hot dryer. Repeat in two days. His were gone and no one else in the family was infected.

You have to treat your house for scabies just as you would for lice wash all bedding in hot hot water and use the cream as directed. Sounds like you will need more than one tube though if all of you have. It can be very hard to get rid of, keep your dr up on whats going on.

Oh my... poor little ones! My little one went through something similar... what are you using during bath time?
You know, I found that there are ALOT of products that will produce allergic reactions. If you want to try something more natural I'd be happy to share some home natural recipes. Send me an email: ____@____.com I'd be happy to help if I can.

call the pedi and tell them that everyone has it now and you need a prescription for everybody in the family..also make sure you wash the sheets in HOT water. gotta clean the house just like when they get lice.

make sure you keep the cream on for 24 hours. and you can't send the kids to school either--it is obviously contagious until you treat.

Stupid bugs---sorry you got them, but they are one of those childhood illness that everyone has to deal with.

Hello,

You have had some great responses! My daughters had this when they were younger, and the cream is what will work. You do have to wash everything!! In hot water, clorox, you name it. Treat everyone in the house w/the cream...tell your doctor that your other children also have the same symptoms so that he/she can give you multiple prescriptions for the cream. Wash towels, sheets, clothes, everything. They will come back--you have to keep treating it and you will get rid of them.
Be generous with the cream! Too much is better than not enough when spreading this on your kids. You will have to wash quite a bit, but it is worth it!

It's a pain-- very frustrating, but you will be free of them (little bugs!) if you keep it up! Good Luck! This was horrible and I'll never forget it, but it will pass!!

Horrible little bugs. My daughter had it and it is contagious. The cream is the treatment, but I want to say that there was also an oral medication as well. Wash sheets and clothes really well. I also drop just a cap full of Pine-Sol in the wash.

Good Luck!!

Scabies is very contagious. The cream is the treatment needed. You need to treat everyone in the house at once, and then do the re-treatment on time. Also, change all the sheets and scrub down the house on treatment day. I would look on the internet to find exactly what is recommend to get clean of them. I used to work nursing home years ago and we would completely empty all the cloth out of the room (including the mattress) and bleach down everything else! Please make sure you find out if the treatment is safe for the baby!

We have never had this, but I had a very good friend that got a really bad case of scabies once. He could not wear clothes it was so bad. Since he was single, he had to have a nurse go to his home and apply the medical cream to him once a day.

Here is an interesting article that covers all of the things about Scabies.
