My question is: Does anyone have a cheap way of getting rid of scarring? How about at least helping them fade away?

What can I do next?

This works for keloids, so it may work for scars too: all you have to do is dissolve an aspirin tablet in some water to make a paste. Put the paste onto the scar and keep it wet. Do this every day for a few minutes (10-15?) and it will go away in a few weeks. The aspirin is a mild acid, so it dissolves the tissue away. I had a keloid (lump of scar tissue) on my ear from a piercing gone awry a few years ago and this method worked great. Obviously if you have any skin irritation, stop.

Honestly, there is no way to ever completely get rid of a scar because of the collagen breakdown in the deeper tissue. Your best bet if it raised significantly, is to have steroid injections to the site done by a dermatologist. This will at least flatten the scar. Then you can have either chemical peels or microdermabrasion to improve the appearance of the scar. For the best results don't go to a spa for those services. A medical office will have far superior methods.

Try Mederma. its the best stuff out there for scarring and stretch marks. It may not rid you of the scar completely, but it will make it a lot lighter. It cost maybe 30 bucks.....but its wayyy cheaper than surgery!

I'm not sure what kind of scars you are talking about, but as a little girl I was hit in the face (by my sister) with a metal bar about an inch under my eye. After the stiches were taken out ever morning and every night my mother would take a vitamin E pill poke a hole in it and rub it on the scar. Now over 25 years later, I can see the scar because I know it is there, but most people wouldn't have a clue that I have a scar on my face. Hope this helps.

Cocoa butter... but it's better if the scar is fresh. Some of the over the counter scar ointment (names escape me) might help too... ask pharmacist/check isle at store. Strivectin works really well but it's pricey. Good luck.

Vitamin E oil. I had chicken pox at 19 y/o and used the gel tabs. I poked a hole in them with a pin or needle and squeezed the oil out and onto the CP scar. I had one scar that was particularly deep on my forehead and after a few weeks of treating it with the vitamin E oil it had faded nicely. Good luck!

Scars can be embaressing for sure as I have a few. But the best way to make them look better is to use something called Scarderma..They have differnt kinds and one of them I love is the gel patches! They worked great. Also a dermatologist can laser some of it off. Good Luck
