My favorite is www.tasteofhome.com. You can also get a monthly cookbook magazine subscription inexpensively.
I would look on everything you buy. There are always recipes on the packaging.
*I bought some mini vanilla wafers and it told how to make banana pops. Cut banana in half and stick on popsicle stick and cover with peanut butter then stick a few wafers on with sprinkles. 3 and 1 1/2 year old love them
I get recipes off of t.v. or better homes and garden magazines. If you only take one thing from a cooking t.v. show it can be great (bbq sauce on corn on the cob when grilling).
My favorite cooking experience has been with Taste of Home series and cookbooks, every recipe is from someone who uses it all the time and I have never had one turn out badly.
If you are looking more for a cookbook geared towards kids cooking then I suggest you ask your local kids librarian and have her give you ideas. There are several areas, both in kids books and adult books where books containing recipes can be found. This way you can try the book out and see if you want to invest in purchasing it.
I use allrecipes.com most of the time but for something to use with your daughter have you checked the library yet? My daughter is older (6) but she loves to check out a different cookbook from the Children's department of the library every couple of weeks. They have books that are specific to a certain holiday, or region of the world and of course they have just good old fashioned cookbooks as well. The great thing is they are made for young chefs so the steps are fairly simple and ingredients are minimal.
Good luck,
K.
I recently saw a Paula Deen cookbook for kids. I don't know the name of it but I'm sure you could find it on-line. All the recipes were kid friendly and written for kids with pictures, etc. Your daughter may still be young for it but some day...
Hi M., If you are looking for a cookbook that is for kids, I know of a couple tried and true one's. My kids are adults now but we all loved "The Pooh and Piglet" cookbook. It's been around since I was a kid and has been updated recently. GREAT FUN!! Also, the American Girl cookbooks are really fun. I think you can get them at Barnes & Noble or through the American Girl website. The recipes are kid friendly and even adult tasty!!
Happy cooking
I can't recommend any 1 good cookbook. We have a bunch in our pantry that really don't get used. We go online to allrecipies.com and look there. There are great recipies that you can input # of people and then print the shopping list. I like the suggestion of checking out cookbooks in the childrens section. Right now what I do with my 17 mo old and 3 1/2 yr old is let them stand on a chair on the side of the island and watch me cook. I give them sugar snap peas and cucumbers while I make the salad because they love them. It also distracts them while dinner is cooking.
My MIL gave me one for Christmas from Williams-Sonoma, for kids to use (probably like for 10 year olds, but my daughter is also 2 and we cook together). It has a ton of step-by-step pictures in it.
I also see a bunch in the kids section of Barnes & Noble.
And for grown-ups, I have the giant "Joy of Cooking" which is a good go-to anytime you are wondering how to make something, from ceasar salad to lasagne to chicken pot pie...
