You know what I did last summer.... I got one of the Large plastic pools. They sell @ walmart for about $15. Then either use a tarp, or get a sheet of plywood to cover it.
Hi, I'm looking for a sandbox. I've looked into several and they seem to be on the small side. Has anyone seen one that can seat up to four toddlers?
Thank you so much for the responses. I'm going to take Lori's advice and try to build one. It'll be a fun project for my husband and I. I love the sandbox sold at pottery barn so I'll try and use that as a model. Thanks again for the help. Mamasource is such a great resource.

Hi R.-
You should really look into the pros and cons of a sandbox. Some neighborhood cats like to use sandboxes as litter boxes. You also should look into the possibility of sand fleas.
check out Pottery Barn kids...a couple of years ago we got a really cute sail boat sandbox and the sail came down as a cover for the box...I don't know if they still have it but we love ours...
Cabana Sandbox at Toysrus.com
A bit pricey at $249.99 but when I was looking I could find any cheaper sandboxes that were large like this one. This one takes quite a while to put together, 3 men for almost 3 1/2 hours unless you have someone real handy unlike the men I watched doing it....LOL.
Another alternative would be a sand and water table, they make bigger ones so that four children could stand around and play, this would also add some fun to building sand castles and such!
You're best bet if you're looking for something larger is to build your own. Also you'll want to make sure you have a cover, a tarp will work fine on a homemade one.
whatever you do, just make sure that there is a cover so the neighborhood cats and animals don't make it a convienient litter box. :)

My Husband and I had the same problem last year, They were all so small. So we wnt to home depot and got wood and we built him one, sanded it down and painted it, It is great. he can sit inside it, stand over it.
We got the Naturally Playful Sand and Water Table. It's pretty big and has an umbrella to keep them out of the sun.
They are real easy to make, but if you don't want to go that route, check out onestepahead.com I know they have had large ones in the past.

this one seems really good
I too have the play naturally sand and water table- we got it three summers ago and love it. I would highly recommend it.
Hi R.: A cheaper alternative to a traditional "sandbox" would also be a child's small fiberglass pool -- fill it with sand and Voile! instant sandbox. Cover with a tarp or something to keep kitties out who think it's a litterbox!!
