I thought Neosporin helped to reduce scars.
Just rub some on it every day and it should help it fade a little faster.
Hi,
5 months ago, I accidentally scratched my now 19 months old baby's nose with my nail. Just a bit of blood came out and I applied Betadine. The scratch did not look deep then, but after it healed, it left a white raised scar about 1 cm long. Will it fade away? Should I do anything or just leave it alone?
Thanks!

I got a scratch on my nose when I was a kid - I fell against a metal toy with a sharp edge. The scar was white, like the one you describe on your child, and it seemed to stay for a long time but I'm the only one who noticed it. It definitely faded over time.
Next time you're at the pediatrician's office for a well-child visit, you can ask about it. Also ask if you should be putting Betadine on a young child who can touch it and then put her hands in her mouth. Ask what you should use on cuts and scrapes that are open and can't be covered with a bandaid. My guess is that a scratch from your nail didn't need any antiseptic at all.
Everyone heals differently but usually these small scars disappear in time. We've all done things like this to our kids and they heal up. My son had a pretty deep gash in his cheek from an accident, and while plastic surgery was discussed for some time, there's now no scar visible at all. It took a few years but you'd never know it now.
Is this O. of the several "nail scratch" and "nose scratch" troll posts?
This --or some variation if this--comes up here every so often.
It's always overkill (Betadine on a nail scratch? White raised scar from a nail scratch?)

Welcome to mamapedia!!
Scars happen. It's part of the healing process. Many fade over time.
Betadine is anti-infective. Ointments like Neosporin - which an act as an antibiotic help with scars as well. I believe there's an ointment call "scar zone" I believe I saw it in a CVS - it has green tea oil in it - that said would help minimize or decrease the signs of scaring.
Good luck!!
