Hi!
New to the area and heard around that you need to get on a wait list months in advance in order to get good childcare here?????
Where in K of P area are good places to send a new baby when I go back to work?
When should I start calling and setting up appointments?
Are there really wait lists!?!?!?

What can I do next?

Yes, it's true - the baby room in my kids' daycare is booked through 2008. Get on a list as soon as possible!

I called around my area, Glenside, to get pricing info for my family daycare, and most of them say they are booked. Keep calling around. Somrthing will come up... Try some resources other than daycare centers.
Good luck!

I just wanted to add that I know our daycare does a child assessment around Sept. on each child to see if they are ready to move up to the next classroom - kind of like school children move to the next grade. This leaves spots (in particular, the infant room).. My son is being transitioned to the toddler room now.. He spends a few hours with the older kids every day.

Hello J.:

Welcome to the area. I have written in before that I really like Kindercare - my son goes to the one on E. Germantown Pike. I've been to other Kindercare facilites (all Mulberry daycares are becomming Kindercare) and this one really pleased me. My son really likes it and the facility is brand new. They have full and part time programs. The center director, Mary Kay, is really nice and helpful. Let me know if you are interested. I guess it depends on where you live and work... if its on your way or not.

Hi. Yes, there are wait lists at some places. You should call around first and go take a look at them first. But, my personal recommendation is Bright Horizons in King of Prussia. My almost 12 month old goes there now, she has been there since she was 6 months. Beleive me, I checked ALL around. She was in The Malvern School first, she was there 2 days and I pulled her out of there. That was in Trooper though, all centers are different. But, I used to live in Audubon up till 3 months ago and Bright Horizons is kind of out of my way now but I would not DREAM of sending her anywhere else. It is FANTASTIC! You can contact me if you have any questions. Good luck!

Hi J.!

Welcome to the area. I would recommend calling around to several daycares in your area and setting up appointments to visit and get information about the facility soon. That way, you can make an informed decision that you are comfortable with without feeling rushed into just choosing a daycare. Most daycares I have come across DO have a waitlist, especially for newborns/infants.

I send my daughter to KinderCare, which I am VERY happy with, but it is in Pottstown, and that might be a little far for you. But feel free to contact me if you are interested!

Good luck!
