I have not been to church since my first holy communion about 14 years ago. I have always had god in my heart but never went to church the reason why I am deciding to go back is so that I can get some better guidance in my life. I am looking for a church that is not going to judge me for not haven gone to church or for my lifestyle. Also want a church that has a daycare for my 3 year old boy. I live in the San Gabriel Valley, any suggestion would be helpful.

Thank you.

C.,

Not sure which corner of SGV you are in but we've attended the following churches.

The San Gabriel Mission Catholic Church on Mission Dr, in San Gabriel; St. John the Baptist Catholic Church on Baldwin Park Blvd. in Baldwin Park; and St. Louis de Marillac Catholic Church on Covina Blvd. in Covina.

Good luck, and let your faith take you where you feel comfortable. No one has the righ to judge us but Jesus.

Hi C.,
I would recommend Lake Ave church in Pasadena. Although is a large church you can easily plug in. The people and the pastors are absolutely amazing. Lake has been my home church for 6 years now and the people there renewed my faith constantly. Here is the website: www.lakeavefamily.org. They have childcare for every single service (Sat 5.30pm, Sun 9am, Sun 11am, Sun 6pm) and if you are asking about daycare, as in preschool - that is also available (http://www.lakeavefamily.org/article.asp?id=lacs_splashpage). My daughter (almost 4 yrs old) goes there since she was 2 and we really like the programs and the teachers. God bless you and provide you with guidance.

I attend St. Nicholas Episcopal Church in Encino. I like the Episcopal church philosophy, it is a Catholic church but not Roman Catholic. The views of the church are very easy going and I think you would enjoy it. They are very open and accepting. Good luck on your spiritual journey.

I am also a single mom and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
I really love it. There is a wonderful childrens program where they are not only playing and having fun but sing and have a good moral lesson each week-even at 3 (I love my family was last weeks lesson).

They are especially organized to take care of each other-each month, every family is contacted to see if they need anything or if there is a way the church members can help in anyway. It provides friends and spiritual comfort, especially in these tough times.
I have never been to a congregation that I have not been welcome no matter what is going on in my life.

Here is the web address-go there, put in your address and it will tell you the closest congregation and what time they meet.
Good Luck to you and God Bless.

I go to a nondenominational christian church in Monrovia! I love it, we searched for almost a year for a great church and finally found one! We have two girls, 4yrs and 22 months, the church has excellent care and service for the children, my 4yr is learning so much about God and Jesus Christ, she never wants to miss a Sunday. The pastor, Scott Priest, is wonderful, he really delivers great messages and keeps everyone involved. This church is also non judgemental which I also love! I can't say enough great things about this church! Sundays, 9:30am, held at the Marriot Hotel on Huntington drive in Monrovia. Would love to see you there! Good Luck and God bless!

Hi C.: I go to Sovereign Grace Church in Pasadena. I've been going there for about 20 years and I oversee the Toddler Class that your son would be in. We have lots of children, a great children's program, incredible worship and excellent teaching. The people are very friendly, too. It's a non-denominational Christain church. Here's the link to their website

God bless your search!

C. - You might check out All Saints Episcopal Church on Euclid Ave. in Pasadena, across from the back of City Hall. ASC is a warm, loving, non-judgemental church whose motto is "whoever you are and wherever you are on the journey of faith, you are welcome". ASC is progressive and active in peach and justice issues. They have wonderful day care so you can attend services while your children are looked after. My kids attend the infant room. The preaching and music are highly valued and some of the best you will hear in the U.S. Services are at 9am, 11:15am and there is a 1pm bilingual English/Spanish service. (There are a lot of former Catholics in the parish). Here is the link: http://www.allsaints-pas.org/site/PageServer
