I have been secret shopping for about a year. I don't make enough to live off but I do make enough to supplement my husband's income. I substitute teach during the school year but then I am a stay at home mom during the summer.

Check out these websites: www.shopnchek.com, www.secretshopper.com (or could be .net; I have them bookmarked so I'm not totally sure of the end of the website). These are a good place to start. You'll need to sign up with these companies before you can shop for them. You could also google companies that have secret shopper positions.

R., I have a friend who was a mystery shopper, and I can tell you - only do it if you love shopping. She made very little money at it, and the work wasn't steady.

On the other hand, if you can get a business going as a personal shopper - shopping for people who don't have time to do it themselves - you can make a nice amount of money. You can charge by your time, or by the day. This service is usually used only by people with a lot of discretionary income, so you might want to advertise to doctors, law offices, etc. I googled "become a personal shopper" and got a lot of hits.
