Hi, I am looking for an eliptical, not sure if I care if it's used or not. But I am looking for an affordable, quality eliptical. I'm not really comfortable with Craig's list; I've heard to many bad stories.

Any other suggestions? Thanks

What can I do next?

Play it Again Sports usually has elipticals...not super cheap...but a variety of quality. Unfortunately the one near us on Bell road closed...but it is a chain.

We bought ours online.I can't remember where, but we basically shopped by price and we had free shipping. We did buy it new, not used.

We looked at Play it Again Sports and at Sports Authority and tried out the ellipticals to see what we liked, noted the price.

Then we looked online and saw the same thing at a lower price and free shipping. Not sure if that would work. The one we got was $1300 in the store and almost $1100 online. Not cheap, but it was less online AND they shipped it for free.

The store (SA) had some other models that were cheaper (On sale) under $1000. I'm not sure what your price range is, but even Play it Again Sports had only new ones at our store in Goodyear, but that doesn't mean that they don't have used ones out your way or even now.

BTW, I hate exercising and using treadmills and bikes, but I LOVE using the elliptical (compared). Nothing beats dancing, though!!
Good luck.

funny, we are looking into getting one also and just started the research (and savings) process. from what I can tell from my research, good (new) ones cost in the $600 range and go up from there. it seems that the cheaper models have major flaws ranging from not being sturdy to being clanky and loud to falling apart. we looked at craigslist too, but you should make a list of good companies and models you like first and go from there. we have decided not to do craigslist because for the less expensive models that fall apart in a few years, it's hard to justify even $300 on a machine that could potentially go out within a month. then we would have just blown $300 on something that doesn't even have a warranty. also, you have no idea with used machines where they were stored/used, who was using it and how often, and how many times it was moved and/or taken apart and put back together. for such an expensive machine, it does't seem worth it to go with used.
If you are looking for something in the VERY low price range, I did come across the Stamina InMotion Elliptical. It is $93 and it is just the foot part of the machine. you can balance on your own or use a chair to help balance you if you are a bit bigger and need the help. You can find it at Amazon.com. We have a Stamina Stair stepper and it's just the steps and it is WONDERFUL. I get a great workout from it and the elliptical got wonderful reviews. So if you are looking for very cheap, but still want a good quality machine (plus you can take it from room to room since it is so compact and light), I'd go with Stamina.
Last, we did all our comparing on amazon.com. it's great to start there because of all the customer reviews. I have settled on the Horizon Fitness EX-57 Elliptical Trainer based on price and reviews. We were hoping to spend $300, but it seems the quality isn't there. The Horizon is $600 and free shipping.
good luck and if you find a great machine before we have time to save up for ours, let me know! Happy working out!
