Look into mediators too... my uncle is one in MA and if done properly you can by-pass the whole attorney/ huge legal fees thing. I WOULD have an attorney review your mediation agreement prior to signing it... but that will be 10% of the cost of having an attorney do everything.

I just used Diana Porter and was happy with her service. Price was fair and better than using a firm.

Are children involved? If not may i suggest do it your self! You can get straight to the demands are bypass all the mumbo jumbo. Save that money for a cruise or vacation even a makeover when the divorce is final.

there is legal aid help and paralegal that can help ensure your forms are filled out correctly. yes i support mediators if unbiased. even with property and child you can do most the leg work yourself.
Personal suggestion: If you have a job keep it, stay out of trouble and don't admit to any mental illnesses unless already documented in your medical file. If he decides to play dirty that's usually where they hit first. Judge's don't like it when their courtroom becomes a bash room. Keep your head held up high, deny any accusations and stay with your original claim. Less work for you. They have to prove you unfit. Be willing to compromise regarding custody/visitation unless divorce resulting in harm done to child! If your just not in love any more or don't agree on upbringing of child or even had enough with the in-law simply state irreconcilable differences.
