i've had some friends do the "we saw mommy kissing santa claus". have the kids in their jammies peeking out somewhere and you are kissing "santa". it really makes an adorable picture...even if the older kids are too old for santa!!!!!
I'm looking for ideas for Christmas cards. Every year I put the kids in front of the Christmas tree, all dressed up, and then take their pictures to put on a Christmas card. This year I'd like to do something different, to find a place I can take the kids to take their picture. I'm trying to think of places in the Omaha area that would make a nice background. Any ideas?

I, too, always do the formal portrait. I have done a few other fun pics with all my girls with Santa hats, white shirts and red scarves on. And I did the little girls ( I have a 5 and 7 year old and then 17 and 24) in their Christmas pajamas pretending to open presents under the tree.
I am trying to think about this year. We always go to a tree farm for a tree and they have a horse drawn wagon. I am thinking of going on an off day (not the weekend) and trying to figure out something with that or even just out in all their trees.
Take an up close picture and maybe with a christmas background (try a nice christmas gift wrap and post it on a wall) or take a family picture outside in you coats and hat. try an upclose shot.
I wrapped my daughter in christmas lights once, turned them on and it was really cute!
I used a picture I had taken of my girls this fall at my parent's cabin. They had their arms around each other with great big smiles. I used a photo editing program to change the picture to a sepia color. Then I found a card at Snapfish.com with tan tones and Christmas colors. The cards turned our really nice.
Remember, you can always use a cute picture of your kids from this year. Did you go on a vacation or visit anywhere fun? It doesn't always have to be them in front of Christmas stuff. Good luck!
I let my kids pick what they wanted to wear (daughter chose a flashy red dress, son pants & white button up shirt untucked & sleeves rolled up) - added a santa hat to each and they posed back to back against a white wall and had a candy cane cane -- it turned out so cute!
