Hello everyone, I have a very busy schedule like many of you. I work fulltime and have to take care of my family as well (cook, clean up, etc). I would like to take time and start a bible study. I would like for anyone to share with me any Bible studies they have done, which they have enjoyed and learned a lot from. Most of all, I would like to know how many days in the week have you scheduled your bible studies so it works for a schedule of a fulltime worker, wife and mommy. I would really appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!!

Sincerely,
Jen

I never held my own Bible study, but there are two that I attended that I really enjoyed & got a lot out of: Beth Moore's "Esther" (its hard to be a woman) & Captivating. If done right "Captivating" can be life changing.

Greetings! It appears to me that everyone is utilizing the world wide web as a convenience towards saving time and getting the most done--in our spare time, with interactions with others. Having said this, why not try an online or e-mail bible study? I'm sure that whichever method you choose that your intentions will be blessed. Stay encouraged!

Hi J.! I highly recommend the "Nurture" study by Lisa Bevere. We used the DVD series for a class for our ladies at church. There is a book and workbook also, the DVDs are not essential but fun to do if you are in a group.

"Nurture" doesn't have to be done in a group so you can totally do the book/workbook on your own. If you are thinking of doing something daily, I LOVE "My Utmost for His Highest" by Oswald Chambers. There is a daily version of that book and it goes in conjuction with the Bible.

I hope you find what you are looking for! It's so hard to just walk into a bookstore and pick exactly what you really need. I had never thought of asking for reviews! Have fun choosing!

Hi J., Good for you!! I'm in one now with some other moms. We just finished a book called "Mastering Motherhood"- I didn't love the book, but it made for some really good discussion. I've heard great things about Beth Moore, and also the book "Captivating" by Staci Eldridge, I think. (The girls in my study did this book before I joined and RAVED about it.) Other than that, go to www.christianbooks.com and type in women's bible studies...you'll find all sorts of stuff. Just pick something that speaks to your heart! If God put the idea in your heart, he'll keep prompting it to find something that meet your needs!

I haven't really done any Bible Studies with people...just one with a friend here at my house, another one with a group at a woman's house and another one for mothers at church. I would say, once a week would be suffice and just be in the Word of God and let Him speak to you and you share what He shares with you. Do you have plans and if not sure, I can tell you what I have seen done in Bible Studies I have attended....

Hi J., is interesting to see that there are people still interested in learning what the Bible says. As one of Jehovah's Witnesses we conduct studies with people on the phone or face to face whichever is more convenient with them. Thru these studies we learn the practical things on how to apply what the Bible Really says. We have a small book which is also convenient to share with others. visit www.watchtower.org and request your study material today.

Hi J.,

I just want to clarify what you mean by Bible Study. Are you trying to find time to do devotions on your own, to study the Bible (in a literal sense), or to join or create a small group of women to study with you? I also struggle to find time for Bible study because my church's studies are at the time that my kids are napping after I get home from work, or they are at a time when I am not quite home, so I never am able to attend.

I would try to set aside time at the quietest time of day, whether that is before your daughter is awake, or after she goes to bed. Saturday mornings are my only quiet time, but I am planning on having devotions before work or on my lunch break this year. My days go better if I spend time studying or praying in the morning.

If your church has a library, you could see if they have any women's studies or use a Women's Study Bible because they often have lessons, quotations, and mini-studies directed to women. I have also been going through the devotional Calm My Anxious Heart (by Linda Dillow )with a friend of mine, who is also a busy mom. We are sharing our experiences and responses to the discussion questions through email, phone, and social networking (like Facebook) because we live in different states, but it is a great book for women (and especially moms).

P.S. I just read the earlier responses. I also love My Utmost for His Highest! My first job was a work crew run by my pastor (a very exacting boss), but we started every morning with Oswald Chambers and prayer for a safe and productive day. It always made a difference! I also think it can be great for women to use social networking/email to their advantage when they can't physically get together with other women for support or study. You can aim for a chapter a week, or something like that, and share discussion question responses, have set online "chat" times, etc. It is a great way to get that support!

Hello! We are Roman Catholic and I participated in a Bible study at our Church that for an hour or so each week had a video accompanied by weekly lessons. It was called "A Quick Walk Through the Old Testament" or something like that. You read independently, then when you get together you watch the video (like 20 minutes) and discuss some questions with your group. The guy in the video is entertaining, and things become very easy to understand.
Even though I did it in a Church setting, we broke into groups, and you can easily do it with an intimate group at home. If you want the specific name of the series, let me know. It was easy to follow and conducive to great discussions.

What town are you from? I was looking for the same thing!
I work full time so evenings during the week after 7:00pm would work for me or weekend mornings. Life is so busy but to get together with a good group of friends for a bible study would be amazing.
Good Luck with your group!
