We would like to host my precious daughter's 1st birthday party at a local park this June in the Flower Mound, Highland Village, Grapevine, or Lewisville area. We'd especially like a park with a playground that has a rubbery base (for crawling babies) as well as a pavillion with a roof (in case of rain). Any suggestions? I'd like to secure a reservation soon!

Dove Park in Grapvine (at Park Ln & Dove Rd) has an AWESOME kids play area called Casey's Clubhouse. You can rent the pavillion that is covered and has picnic tables. The playground has the rubber base with great play equipment and a small spray area where kids can play in the water if it's warm enough. We have been to a couple birthday parties there and the kids always have a great time!!

Highland Village - Kids Kastle (Unity Park) has bathrooms, 2 play areas, and a pavilion.
Lewisville's Central Park has 2 play structures (one for bigger kids and one for little ones, along with bathrooms, a pavilion and a gazebo that little one's like crawling around.
Flower Mound's Rheudasil Park has a pavillion, and a nice playground, but no bathrooms and although we love the pond, it can become a bit of and issue with the little ones - it would depend on how many helpers you had for the kids.
I don't know of any parks in the area that have rubber mulch and a pavillion (or picnic area).
By the way, Family eGuide did a special on some of our local parks in their November 14th issue. Go to www.familyeguide.com and click on archives to view. There are even pictures of some of the parks I mentioned.

We had our son's first b-day party at Central Park in Lewisville in 2006. I thought it turned out perfectly. You just need to reserve it by putting down a deposit, but you get it all back as long as you leave your pavillion in good shape & clean up your mess. Good luck to you. :)

Not sure of any parks in those areas, but be careful with those with the rubbery bases because in June the sun can heat up those areas so they are very hot and may burn the skin. If you do a morning party that probably won't be an issue, but if you're planning one for the afternoon you may want to seek a park with the wood chips. Just a thought.

Parr Park in Grapevine (west of 121 on Hall-Johnson)just put up a new climbing structure for big kids and has a playground for little ones on the rubber. It also has a pavilion for rent or other covered tables on 1st come, 1st serve. Just don't do what I saw a couple of years ago. Someone decorated all the tables before I was there for a 10AM party, and I never saw them! Their party must have been much later in the day. I thought it was very rude to take the tables for the entire day!
