Hello all,

Being new to the area that moved here out of state, we just found out that we are expecting our second child and was wondering if people could recommend a OBGYN and hospital. I had the first child by a cecerian and I have to have this child by c-section also because of the type that was performed on the first time around. I would greatly appreciate your recommendations. I like a Dr. that is thorough with providing time and effort with my questions and concerns and has good bed side manners.

Thanks,

C.

I was VERY pleased with my doctor, Dr Mary Czuk, and I gave birth at St Francis in Federal Way.
Good luck!

Congratulations! And welcome to Washington!

I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend Dr. Stephen Poore of Virginia Mason in Federal Way (he delivers at St. Francis). He is absolutely wonderful in tending to our preggo spirits, answering every question with honestly and tenderness. My husband also felt very comfortable with him, especially during the delivery. Dr. Poore saw us through several miscarriages and the fear of infertility. He gently and confidently walked us through the journey, we now are the proud parents of a healthy 6 month old. After delivery, our entire family complimented Dr. Poore's manner. I have recommended others to him, and they are equally happy. His office number...###-###-####

Hi C.,

I delivered my second at Good Samaritan and had a really good experience. Especially the nurses after delivery. They were so sweet and caring, I loved it. It's birthing unit had a make over not to long ago, so it even looks wonderfull. The birthing rooms are HUGE. And my OBGYN was Dr. Carrie Wong from Good Samaritans Womens clinic (right across the street from the hospital). She never seemed rushed for time and always asked if I had any questions or concerns, etc...Dr. Major is another good one. I saw him a few times when Wong was at the hospital doing deliveries. Hes extremely personable for a man ;) Hes very easy to talk to and ask questions to. Both of these locations were good for me because I too live in Bonney Lake and I wanted something close. We use Woodcreek Pediatric Care in Bonney Lake for our Pediatrician. Our normal Ped. moved to the South Hill campus, so I've been using Dr. Hendrix for my boys and I really like her. Best of luck!

Hi C.,

CONGRATULATIONS! first of all.

I guess I missed where you were to know if this is a good suggestion for you or not. I live in Tacoma. I, too, needed some help when I moved here from NV in 2000 with finding new docs and such. Wish I had known about Mamasource back then.

Anyway, after trial and error (stay away from Dr. Meas in Tacoma), I found Gary Nickel, OB/GYN. His office is just past Wright Park in Tacoma, just about across the street from Tacoma General/Mary Bridge. I chose him not only b/c he has FANTASTIC bedside manner, but he also asked me repeatedly if I had any questions, let me go on and on about any concerns or clarifications I needed, etc, and he also delivers at TG. I was set on TG b/c Mary Bridge Children's Hospital is attached. Why is this important? B/C if something should happen that your newborn needs to go to the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit), it's actually attached to TG, so you are in the same hospital with your baby, for all intents and purposes. I was not willing to take the chance of my baby getting worse in the time it took him/her to potentially be transferred from St. Joe's or elsewhere to Mary Bridge for further treatment, and then my husband would have been driving between the two, dividing his time, etc.

Nothing did happen. My baby was born healthy. But you just never know. We have enough stressors in our lives when we're pregnant/delivering; I definitely want to make sure I have the best care as close by as possible.

Good luck.

I had both my boys at Valley medical center in renton. I have to say I love that hospital, and my OB GYN, Dennis brown with womens and family health clinic in renton, they are just down the road from ikea. I know it seems a little out of the way from where you are at but as long as you miss the morning traffic at like 8 am it only takes about 20 mins to get there. I was traveling from puyallup with my first and auburn with my second. good luck

My name is S.. About 4 years ago, when I found out that I was pregnant with my 2nd child, I went to a clinic up in Seattle. My now mother-in-law told me about it. I saw a Dr. Sara Hephbour. She was wonderful. I delivered at Sweedish (I think that is how you spell it) Medical center. She had the best bedside manner that I have every seen. The name of the clinic is the Country Dr. If you are going north on I-5, then you have to go up 1st hill. I don't remember what the address is or what street you have to turn down, but they are wonderful. They take people with insurance as well as people without insurance. I am going to give you my phone number and if you have any questions you can give me a call. I am mostely home all day, but I am looking for work. My number is ###-###-####.

I loved St Joseph's Medical Center in Tacoma! I had all three of my children there and loved the staff. My sister had both of her girls at Valley since she lived in Auburn. The room is nice and spacious and you don't have to move around (which you do have to do at St Joes). I will say her doctors were AWESOME but I didn't think the nurses were as nice as I would've liked which was a little disappointing since I was spoiled by the nurses at St Joes. St Joe's Women's Clinic (right across the hospital) also has a wonderful staff of midwives and doctors available...can't say enough wonderful things about them all! Good luck:)

I am having my third at Valley Medical Center in Renton. I wouldnt have one anyother place. It is a beautiful campus and you get to stay in your birthing suite after the baby is born you arent moved all over the place. And the have a hot tub and room set up that is just amazing. Not to mention the wonderful staff. They will sneek you food early early in the morning when the brith center kitchen is closed from the public cafeteria...its the little things i guess that thrill me!! My doctor is Dr. sleeter. she is great!! I know it is a little far from you but really you just shoot onto 167 and you will be there is no time. i have to take three freeways to get there but it is worth it!!

If you are willing to drive to Tacoma, I would highly recommend Dr. Cammarano at The Tacoma Women's Specialsts across the street from Tacoma General hospital. She delivered both of my babies and has been my OG/GYN for almost 9 years now. She also delivered my sister's first baby. She is great and always wants to make sure that your questions are answered before you leave her office. You don't feel rushed to make any decisions. I, too, had to have a c-section with my first baby and Dr. Cammarano is one of the fastest and most thorough. She does her deliveries at Tacoma General and they are fabulous. Nothing but private rooms on the mom and baby floor! Since you are probably having another c-section, you'll be in the OR first and then moved to recovery for about 2 hours, then to your private room upstairs for a few days. Moving around uis no big deal because they are just rolling your bed everywhere. The nurses treated me like royalty. Anything I or my family needed, they got. With my first child, he had to go to the NICU because he stopped breathing and his lips turned blue. I was so glad to be at TG where MaryBridge is attached and have some of the top pediatric doctors in the nation looking after my baby. He was only in the NICU for a week and is now a very healthy 4 year old! Dr. Cammarano also did my c-section for my second child who is a very healthy 16 month old. I hope that this helps you out. I forgot to tell you that TG offers an extra night in the hospital free of charge to you and your insurance. When having a c-section, it's nice to have the option of 1 more night of having the nurses help you out with the little things. Oh! I almost forgot: there is a fantastic lactation consultant named Linda that I worked with at TG because my babies were not natural at the latching on concept. She was essential in my motivation to keep trying (my 4 year old took 2 months to catch on, my 16 month old took 1 month). Good luck & Congrats!!

C. - Hello fellow Bonney Laker!!! I hardly ever resond to these, but I do have a wonderful OBGYN that delivers at Valley Meidical. Dr. Allison Webb of Obstetrics and Gynecology ###-###-####, in Renton, WA is wonderful. I, too, had to have a C with my second pregnancy and was "very" nervous about it. I also, for insurance reasons, had to find a new OB after having my twins .... Let me tell you, I visited many docs before dedciding on Dr. Webb. My youngest is now 4 1/2 and I still see Dr Webb for my yearlys. She's really great!!!

Hope this helps.
