She comes to your house, or will meet you at a location. I'm sure she has some good ideas. She uses natural light and the photos are stunning and fun.
We received a gift of four photo sessions with her to document our son's first year and the results were delightful.
Kari works with lots of wee ones, so she is patient and relaxed and willing to take extra time to get beautiful photos.

There is a woman in your area named Stacey Cordes. She has a website on-line you can look up. She does AMAZING photos and not only captures your beautiful kids, but I honestly think she catches their personality too. She can do photos at your home, or at a park, or at her place (near Hiawatha). She has reasonable prices, and is super nice! She never rushes and does a great variety too. Sadie's in the Mall of America. They have really great sets and are so creative. They take their time and really care about the pictures you're getting. Ask for Madi to be your photgrapher. She's got such a creative style.

I would highly recommend a local photographer by the name of Gina Lang www.ginalangphotography.com (look under lill peanuts). She's local to Minneapolis and you can either go to her studio (which is really cool) in NE Minneapolis or she'll shoot outside. So far she's done my belly shots, our daughters 6 month pictures and I'm just about to schedule our 1 year photos with her as well. Good luck!

If you're willing to go as far as St Paul, I would highly recommend The Photographer's Guild on Snelling (immediately south of Selby). They are fabulous folks who do wonderful work. Among other things, they have a 1st birthday setup in which they will provide a cake for your little one an just let him go at it. :) You clean up the kiddo, they clean up the studio. Also, they have a Kids Club; once you have a kids' sitting with them, you never have to pay a sitting fee for your child(ren) again. We have been taking our twins there since they were 5 days old (now 26 months), and have never had a bad experience with them. (We've gone kinda nuts; including my maternity photos (which they generously counted as our first kids' shoot), we've done 18 shoots to date, so we've had plenty of opportunities to see how they work.) unless you want outdoor pictures, you can't go wrong with Flash! Photography (in several of the malls). They do a wonderful job getting great candids. They cost more than the typical chain, but less than free-lance photographer.
