Maybe there is some sort of child transportation you can find in that area...just a thought!! will let you know if i come across any valued inforamtion.
Good luck!!
This is my firt time posting. I will after 7 years as a SAHM return to full time employment in March. I am looking for someone who has the time to pick up my 61/2 yr old son and take him to school in the morning and then to pick him up after school and drop him off back at home. My 14 yr old would be home after school. We are willing to pay for this service. I am not sure where or how to go about finding this assistance. Has any one done something like this? What should I be looking out for? Also, can anyone give me any ideas as to how much this service might cost me or how much they have paid for something like this. Thank you so much for your responses.
Thank you all so much for responding......My son goes to a Magnate type school that is not in my neigborhood. They will only bus him from my neigborhood school which is about a 2 minute drive from home. The problem is that the school is actually in a different city from where we live so asking other mums who are from that city would not work. My son who is 14 could walk him to the Busstop, but he leaves for school as early as 6:20am. Plus, even though he gets back way before my little man needs to be met and that the Busstop is only a 10 minute walk, it is quite a busy road of about 45mph. I am a little weary also about the weather and other emergencies.... I will definitely discuss the options you all mentioned with my husband. Thank you all so very much for responding....Please keep the ideas, tips and advices coming:-)

When I was little my mom posted an ad in the local paper seeking another mom in the area with kids going to the same elementary school willing to have me for an hour in the AM for a few extra dollars. She would drop me off and I would take the bus with her kids. In the afternoon it would work the same way. The rate was pretty reasonable since all I was doing was watching TV for an hour or so while I waited for the bus and having her walk me to the bus stop. Good luck.
I would try looking at school first. Call some other families in your son's class or in your neighborhood to see if they would be interested or if they know of someone who does that. All you are looking for is a carpool ride so shouldn't be too hard to find.
Good luck!
Do you know any of his classmates' parents? I'd try that option first and they might do it for gas money or even for free, if they feel it helps out another parent. You could also check to see if your school's PTA has a web site that they let parents post requests to, or if there's an online or printed school newsletter and if it will take such a request (some may not) etc. There may be a PTA bulletin board at school in the lobby, where you can post a flyer. If you hire someone from Craigslist and similar places, that could work, but they're strangers to you and you will want to get a criminal background check to see if they have any issues. Also, check the driver's insurance and be absolutely sure that that person has insurance that covers your child completely if there is an accident. Good luck!
In a situation like this, u can pay a cab company to do a pickup and drop off and don't need to worry too much about some random pervert replying to a craiglist ad.
It might be only a few dollars each way. I really worry about you having a stranger do it. You never know!
y can't the 14 year old do it? is it too far? it would be MUCH better not to place him in the hands of someone who could have alterior motives.
Maybe ask the school counselor to help find someone from the school whose child goes there.
Have you looked on sittercity.com? You can look for babysitters, nannies, helpers, etc. in your area. Usually people have references listed and you can check them out. I've not used the service myself but it was recommended to me by two friends.
Best of luck!
My son goes to Rockhill elem and there is a kid that gets dropped off and rides our bus, I have never seen him in our neigbor hood so I don'y think he lives around here, but someone is waiting when he gets off and takes him. I am not sure where you live but that may be an option. I am sure you would have to make arrangements with the school. Still may be a better option.

doesnt the bus bring him home and take him to school? ask a neighbor that hasa kid in the same school that takes their kid. put an ad on craigslist.org then do background checks and get to know them. get their dmv record also if they do end up driving your kid around.
I agree with the other poster, you should try with someone in his class that you know a little better. That way it's someone that your son knows and feels comfortable with.
I run a day care in my home,I am not in your area but since I have some knowlege in this field my advice to you is go to Craigs List and post what you need on the child care sight. You will have access to tons of people who are ready and willing to provide there services to you.Always check references and do a meet and greet before you agree to anything.I have a little girl in my day care right now who is before and after school care...the same care that your son would basically be and I get paid $40 a week by her parents so that is a round about rate that someone might charge you.Good luck!!
First look at people you KNOW who have children in your neighborhood and take the to and pick them up from school. If that is not possible, does your school have bus service? Could you ask a neighbor (with children who get on the bus) to watch him for that amount of time. I would offer them either a babysitting exchange...you watch their kids for a couple hours on the weekend or offer them $. Is your 14 yo unable to get him on/off a bus? Talk to other moms in his class. good luck!
