Sheer Coverage Vs. Bare Minerals

I got some Bare Minerals last XMas and liked it at first but it seemed like it never really stayed on either. I am a newby at liquid foundation and currently wear lacome. I liked it at first too because your make up stays on but right now I feel oily. My husband really liked the way that the mineral make up looked because he said that it was more natural not cakey looking. I have a friend that uses Sheer Coverage and loves it and wondered if there is anyone else out there that has tried it in comparison to Bare Minerals

Hi Agnelia! Did you use a primer with the Bare Minerals foundation? I wore BM for awhile and found the primer (Prime Time) helped tremendously with the makeup. I, too, thought it started to look like nothing on but if you haven't tried the primer I think you will like it. Good luck!

bare meinerals is what I use but I cannot use their brushes. I believe they use camel hair and it seems it reacts to my skin. I just use a nice synthetic brushes and it awesome.

i had sheer cover, but since i don't wear makeup everyday, the whole shipping/club membership thing just didn't jive with me. now i have bare minerals. i like its purity and haven't really a problem with it wearing off, so i don't know that it's helpful for me to say i never really had a problem with sheer cover wearing off. ?? the sheer cover intro kit is great, though, because it came with eye color, lip color, mascara, separate concealer, and moisturizer. (the bare minerals kit i purchased from ulta has a moisturizer in it, but not even sample sizes of mascara, eye color, or lip color; bare minerals doesn't have a separate concealer - just a small brush that applies the mineral makeup more heavily.)
i do like better the sheer cover concealer for coverage, but the bare minerals 'concealer brush' does ok.

as a sidenote, i also tried pur minerals and really liked it, but my husband prefers the totally matte look of bare minerals to the slightly dewy look of pur minerals (the latter has shea butter in it). soooo, pur minerals might be a good compromise for ya because it's still quite natural-looking without being as oily as a liquid foundation. ??

I've never used Bare Minerals, but have been using Sheer Cover for the last year and love it! They mail it out to me every 12 weeks, unless I need to change something, I have to do absolutely nothing! It's great!

I haven't used Sheer Coverage, but I used Bare Minerals and loved it. I tried the Maybelline version and liked it just a much as the Bare Minerals and it is a fraction of the cost. That's all I use now.

hi, i was very interested in your question because i too have been looking for new foundation and have wanted to use mineral powder. here is what i have learned. my sister highly reccommends arboone but i just can't pay that much for makeup. i have also heard scary things about the ingredients in marykay makeup linked to breast cancer and the high number of marykay consultants with breast cancer. but i just found a site for affordable mineral makeup! i have ordered two samples for only $2.50 each! i am supper excited to try them out. they have the same indredients as bare ecsentials. check out www.mineral-makeup-reviews.com and www.affordablemineralmakeup.com

I have tried several mineral make up lines. I am currently using, and really love, Joppa Minerals. You can buy it online. Unlike most mineral lines, Joppa has three different coverage levels and numerous shades in each. You can order sample for just a couple of dollars. The samples last about 5-7 days and give you plenty of time to evaluate the formula and shade on your skin. I originally ordered three shades. Once I realized that I liked the formula, I ordered the large size container. When you reorder, you can order refill packets (small ziploc bags) and just use the original container. It is cheaper and not so much to thorw away! Check it out at www.joppaminerals.com

I have not used either of those, but I am using the Mary Kay mineral powder foundation and I love it. I have large pores, and my skin gets oily very easily, and I feel like I've gotten good coverage and it does seem to last throughout the day. Occasionally, if I'm going out for a special date, I may re-apply a little over my makeup just to get a fresh-faced look, but I've been really pleased with the Mary Kay mineral powder foundation. I'd be happy to give you the name of a contact person if you want to try some (I have a couple of friends who sell MK, they both have websites). Plus, Mary Kay has a money back guarantee, so if you don't like it, you can return it free of charge and get your money back!

A.,

I second the Arbonne mineral powder or their liquid foundation. I was not a make up person at all before Arbonne but the liquid foundation feels like you have absolutely nothing on at all.

The other thing I wanted to let you know about is Arbonne's Virtual Illusion Make Up Primer. You put it on before you put your make up on. It gives you a smooth start, absorbs oil and holds your make up on longer. On top of that it feels like silk.

Hope this helps!

Take care and God bless!

I did try Bare Minerals; it bothered my skin, but I did use Sheer Cover for years and I also felt like it never really stayed on. I now use Arbonne's Mineral Power Foundation and love it. I also use their Liquid Foundation; which is very light on your skin. The other thing I like about Arbonne's Mineral Power and Liquid Foundation is that they both come in 15 different shades.

Hi A., if you haven't tried Mary Kay, you should. I am a Mary Kay liquid foundation user and a Mineral Powder user and a consultant and can't say enough about both products. They are both very light and natural looking. If I want a little more coverage, I will go the liquid route, but they both cover nicely. If you have never tried Mary Kay, I would love to give you a complimentary facial or provide you with some samples. You can email me anytime at ____@____.com or check out my website at www.marykay.com/gailcepak to check out our products/prices. Hope this helps.

Another option for minerals is Everyday Minerals. They offer a matte finish that I really like with my oily skin. They also offer a free make up kit and all you pay for is the shipping. The thing I really love about them is their price and that they have foundation for olive toned skin. ")

It sounds like you may be oily and need a good face care system. If your skin isn't in good shape (not too oily or dry) no makeup will look "good" on it.

As far as the difference between SC and BM, I felt like SC was a cheap version of BM. Definitely not a quality product.

Bare Minerals has a face primer that I've heard rocks! I actually use one from Arbone, but I'm sure they do the same thing. The primer will help your makeup to stay in place and look stellar all day. Between a primer and a good skin care routine with good products for your skin type, I think you'll love BM when you give it a 2nd try!

I LOVE Bare Minerals. I will say there is a method to applying it in order to achieve "coverage". LOL, my son even used it in his Senior pictures to cover a breakout. Worked like a charm and he didn't LOOK like he had on make-up!

not to further confuse you, but i just bought arbonne's mineral loose powder foundation, and i love it. it covers well like a foundation, but i don't feel it at all. stays on all day.
i haven't tried the others, although, my bf and m-i-l love bare minerals. but if it doesn't cover well or leaves your face shiney then what's the point? i have noticed that about their faces.
