Hey moms,
I have recently been diagnosed with shingles at the age of 35. I have read alot about it the last few days and the experts say it's usually due to stress or a depressed immune system. I have two small kids and I really haven't taken the best care of myself. I realize now that I have been working so hard to take good care of everyone else, that I have literally let myself go. I also do not handle stress well. I am looking for ways of getting my health, mentally and physiclaly, back on track. What are your suggestions for boosting immunity and living a healthier life? I don't know where to start! Thank you!

What can I do next?

I was in bad shape as well when I found Dr. Chalmers in Frisco. My pedi recommended him to me and he has turned my health around!!! I did not have shingles but did have a list of issues when I went to him. Insurance does not cover the QRA testing and supplements but it is so worth it if you can do it. I hardly take anything now and feel great. I do still buy some nutrition supports from him for my smoothies and such but he has truly helped my body repair itself. He will do a free consult as well.

My mom had this. She started doing the foot soaks at her chiropractor's office. I would check with your health/wellness places in your area. I also agree with the responses about using natural supplements. Mom did that too. She went to dermatologists and doctors and nothing helped, except those foot soaks and natural supplements! The people at the health food stores are usually pretty knowledgeable, so I would ask what to take for the stress, etc. I would also do a full body cleanse of some sort. www.bodydynamics.com is a good place to get a gentle cleanse. It's called Mega Cleanse and is in capsules. I have used it and really like that one. Think they are based in Carrollton.

Hope it gets well soon. I know you are miserable :(

I take all natural supplements to boost my immune system and stay healthy. I have shingles too. I have not had a break out in years. I just bought a kit where I am having my DNA tested to tell me exactly what I need to do for optimal health and even what I should be doing for exercise. This will help me stream line my supplements to make sure I am taking the correct ones. I can't wait to get the results back. I will keep you posted on how that works out.

Take a little time each day, either before kids wake, or after they sleep, or better yet, if they are both napping, and meditate. I really think it helps relax your body and mind, clear your head, and center you. You can also buy a mediation cd or mp3 and at night, put some headphones on and follow some guided meditations. Very relaxing on the body. Moms need a little alone time everyday! Hope your feeling better soon.

Shaklee makes some great immune supplements--one was developed by the scientist who discovered interferon after 50 years of research. They also have a great stress relief complex. Let me know if you are interested.
Getting a massage and exercising are great stress reducers for me.

Eat healthy. Exercise. If you have a lot of stress in your life, exercise more. My husband got shingles a few years ago, it's very painful. He hasnt had another bout of it. I dont think it's common to have it happen again and again.

I had Shingles, and younger then you. They say it can be due to stress or a depressed immune system BUT they honestly do no know why it appears, it just happens.

With that I took pain meds and had pain patches to help ease the pain, give by the doctor. I made sure I had plenty of sleep 7-8 hours a night, ate healthy (lots of whole grains, veggies, fruits, only a palm size of meat a day, snacks I stuck to nut mixes, veggies, hummus), exercise (I really do not do much but walking and yoga), and drank healthy (no soda, mainly water, a little milk and V8 drinks).
