Silly question.....Phones with a Busy Signal

When you call someone and you get a busy signal can that person see your phone number with caller ID also? It is very rare these days to call someone and get a busy signal, most phone lines go right to a voicemail these days. The reason I ask is today I needed to call someone and I got a busy signal and I only had a short window of time to call her so I kept trying a number of times for about five minutes. It never dawned on me until now that maybe she could have seen who was calling, if that was the case I wouldn't have kept trying right then. I know the home has caller ID but must not have the voicemail option. Now I'm a little worried I made myself look a little crazy :) So does anyone have a phone that gives people a busy signal.......can you see the phone number?

What can I do next?

No, they cant see you if there is a busy signal. You only get a busy signal on lines that do not have call waiting.

We went the old-fashioned route of incoming calls get a busy signal.

And No, I cannot see who is calling while I'm on the phone with someone else.

So you're covered.....you do not look crazy. Only the crazies here know the truth.

We have an old school, plug in the wall, with the cord hand set, Pirates of the Carribean phone for the house. We don't have ANYTHING on it, its a super easy phone number that the kids give out to their friends. There is no display on it so we don't know who is calling. We are thinking of getting the kids cells and when we do, we will likely get rid of it then. =)

could of been off the hook, basic phone service that has no additional features, dial up internet service, but if it was busy no they will not see anyione calling you can have that feature added to basic line.I have a home phone no features because when I answer and you don't I hang up,if I don't feel like talking to you i'll hang up,if you leave me a message on answering machine i'll return your call if you don't well guess you don't really need to talk to me.I have a cell with caller id,voice mail, texting if needed email, free long distance the only reason why we will not disconnect our home phone is the kids need it no I will not buy cell phones at their ages, home phone if for emergencies and to call grandparents, and I can think of alot more what if's for both cell and home phone....

Hahaha!!!! I have a phone that gives a busy signal. I took all the extra's off the house phone (landline), so we no longer get call waiting or caller ID.

My husband laughs at that busy signal and says who gets a busy signal anymore. I figure our personal calls come through our cell phones, so why pay extra for the house phone...who cares if a doctors office gets a busy signal, it wouldn't happen that often.

If you were getting a busy signal your friend wouldn't see your number. She could have been on a conference call or her phone was off the hook. Or she doesn't have call waiting. But no, when you hear a busy signal the person you call can't see your number on their caller id.

:) It's too "hard" to unplug the phone from the wall since it's behind this monster bookcase (I can, but if I'm tired enough for a nap or whatever, then I'm too tired to deal with unplugging it).....and if I unplug the phone itself (battery), the base still rings. It annoys me, so sometimes I just turn the phone on and after a minute of busy tone, it stops and is silent. I do that if I (or husband and I!) want a nap, or if one of the boys is feeling ill and sleeping extra. We DO have caller ID and all that, but no, nothing goes through if the dial tone is busy. It can sound busy if your call is going through at the same time they are dialing or ringing someone else, but if it's busy and you hang up, wait 2 minutes, and call again and it's still busy, then the phone is off the hook.
This can also happen if you have an older phone and don't hang it up correctly, or on the portable phones, if you don't push the right button (or a 2 year old turns it on while playing with it). Stuff happens. But they won't know you phoned. :)
