Yes. And make sure you take care of it. A few years ago I got some severe pain behind my eye and let it go on too long. When I finally went to the doc he said it's not something to mess with cause too much pressure can damage the optic nerve. So take care of it. Oh, and FYI, ever since then, whenever I start getting congestion again, the pain start to come back and in fact last week I had another flare-up. I'm on the antibiotics trying to get rid of the sinus infection behind my eye again.

Go to the doc and good luck. Hopefully you're taking care of it soon enough that you won't have more problems.

Yes, the nasal lacrimal duct runs directly between the sinus and the eye....if there was a healthy amount of bacteria brewing in either one or the other it can spread to either.

Hey Mama-

You have sinus cavities around your cheek bones, forehead & top of your head, do it would stand to reason if your sinuses were inflamed, your eyes would hurt.

When I get really sick, I can have discharge from my tear ducts, oooh so fun. = P

If the discharge is green or brown, you have an infection, and most likely will be give an Rx for it.

Feel better

The eye is surrounded by portions of the sinus cavity. One of the sinus cavities whether above or below the eye is infected. Have you ever noticed how a nasal infection can spread to the throat and to ear as well.
I hope you get through this quickly as the sinuses are easily reinfected.
For the duration of this cold winter you could up your vitamin C intake to protect yourself from further colds and other illnesses.
Also buy one of those illustrated anatomy books for children so you can look at the construction of the body. It'll be good for the children and for you to see what the body looks like underneath the skin.
