Having 2 girls I can understand the temptation to buy those cute shoes for her birthday---but my advice is not to do that. Both my daughter's feet grew at such different rates especially at this little age. The reason I always bought expensive Stride Rite shoes was I knew they did a super job fitting the girls...buying ahead kind of negates the reason to buy Stride Rite. If you buy now the shoes could be too big and she might trip or too small and they be uncomfortable. Sorry Mom---my advice is hold off, don't guess and look for cute shoes nearer to her birthday.

The folks at Stride RIte are trained to help you with this....and GREAT JOB!!!! Stride Rite are the BEST shoes for kids growing feet...they were the ONLY shoes my son wore until he was about 4

I would not buy them now unless you can take them back for a full refund. Every childs feet grow at a different rate and no one not even a DR. can tell you what size her feet will be then. I never would have guessed that my son would end up wear size 13 shoes and be 6' 2" tall when his dad wears a size 9 shoe and is only 5' 9" tall. Now ever knows til the time comes how big our children be at a certain age.

Target has some really nice shoes. You may want to ask your daughter's Dr. if there is a brand or kind of shoe that is best for walking.

Well, you could probably guess but you won't know for sure until close to the time. Some baby's feet grow quickly whereas others grow slowly. There really is no way of knowing.

Why not wait until closer to the day? I'm certain you'd be able to find something acceptable.

I always had the best luck with Pediped's at that age. Pedipeds always seemed to fit a bit longer than most (and they came with inserts to help the sizing). They were my favorites and totally worth the money, in my opinion.

It's going to be difficult to predict her size, which is why I would recommend Pediped as well.

Good luck

I would guess that she would be 3 1/2 by the fall. Next year probably a 4. To be safe, I would have her try on shoes at her birthday. You want to have shoes that fit well when she is learning to walk. My kids grow about 1/2 size every 6 months.

I would not buy early unless they are classics and on great sale. You can't tell - she may be a size 3 still or shoot up to a 4 or 5. I guess buying a 4 would be somewhat safe, but ... my kids were in 3s for almost a year.

OH, also my husbands PODIATRIST - who specializes in feet and shoes mind you - said that the brand is not relevant at all, stride rites are just over priced according to him and no better then cheap generic ones. Just make sure they are flexible and you can bend them in half completely. (that means the sole is flexible enough for a new walker)

I would save your money and buy a cute pair from Target.

The sales people at Stride Rite can fit her and suggest probably 2 sizes larger.
