Sleeping to Much and No Energy for Mum

Maybe its been the stress of the week with all the preschool stuff and what not, but the last few days I feel like sleeping all day. I lay down for a nap then never want to get back up. When I am up, I don't feel I can eve move my leg properly cus I have no energy. For the past few weeks, my sleeping shedual has been a little off. up from 3-4-5 am in the morning till about the time he gets home at 5pm. I do the normaly hellos, how was your day at work, ask about dinner. If need be I make somethign for him and my son. then I got to bed. And again back up when the hubby goes to bed. I feel guilty about this last few days, as my son is alway asking for my attention, but I feel completely exausted to a point that I can't keep my eyes open. My body acts like it just wants to shut down and not move.

I know fair well I don't eat right, I never have, as I am one of the pickyiest eaters I have met. But its just been all of a sudden, that I have lost all energy. I took my son to the park yestraday even though I wasn't feeling up to par, thinking I just need to push myself to walk around, get my blood pumping, but then I started, after walking a bit, getting sharp pains in my side. So I stoped of course, and we went home. Mind you he got to have a good time at the park while I sat on benches and watche before we walked around all over the place feeding geese and what not.

So my question is really, what could be causing this sudden lack of energy. I tried last night to go to bed, and stay in bed longer, well till later in the morning at least and see if my energy will keep up. but I just need to find a way to get that umpf back so I don't feel so tired and so week all the time.

And even if you suggest the doc, that wont happen as we can't afford for me to go to one.

What can I do next?

My first guess is that you might be pregnant. If that's not it, then my next guess is adrenal fatigue has caught up with you. Try taking Vitamin C and a B complex twice a day--once with breakfast and once with lunch. Or...you could be fighting something off.

We all too often underestimate the toll stress takes on us. Even though we handle everything we need to do, there is a very real emotional unease that can run beneath our awareness - and it has a real impact on us. Try to ease some of the frustration first as it will only add fuel to a frustrating situation. And of course some simple things like avoiding carbs/sugars in the evening especially.

Your symptoms also sound very similar to the horrible fatigue I experienced that was thyroid-related. I know you said a doc is out of the question, but keep it in mind for future reference. My fatigue was terribly debilitating!! It was tough to function. - Understatement!

Good luck Lacey. Let me know if you'd like me to share some things I did to turn my fatigue around.

Well I can tell you that your sleeping pattern is most likely part of the issue but how much water are you drinking every day? You need at least 80 ounces per day at the bare minimum. I myself was feeling exhausted and just wanted to sleep all the time. I thought it was the depression which I am sure some of it was but then I went to have a body wrap done. The girl asked me what I ate on a daily basis, how much water I drank. I already told her I didn't drink Soda but my weakness is Sweet Tea. She told me that if I cut that out and increased my water intake I would be amazed how much weight I would lose just with that. However I have noticed since the water intake I have so much more energy-maybe its in my head but you never know maybe your body is dehydrated. I would try that first and see. If it doesn't help any then I would seriously advise you to see the doc even though you say you can't afford it. If you have a son what if you needed surgery for your appendix or something? This could be a life or death type of deal. Money is only that-who cares? At least you would have your health. These hospitals make more than enough money and most of them will work out payment plans for you and you might could even approve for financial assistance. Your health comes first-if you don't take care of your self then who will care for your family?

If you go to the doctor, ask them to do blood work. If your tyroid is not in check it can slow you down big time :) I know you said cant afford a doc, maybe try a clinic. I just know my story played out like yours and after getting mine checked I could not believe how elevated mine was. Should be in the 1 to 2 range...I was almost a 6. Started the meds and feel like a person again!! Good luck!!

I think you should definitely check to see if you are pregnant.
If not try taking iron, you may have anemia really bad which makes you really fatigued.
Someone mentioned depression which is also a possibility but you probably would have other symptoms like feeling sad for no reason, or not being interested in things that you used to be. or weight los or gain.
The thryoid issue is another biggie. Are you losing or gaining weight? Are you losing hair?
Do you have mono? They call it the kissing disease but you don't have to get it from kissing. Your splean can get enlarged when you have mono, maybe that would explain the pain in your side. This is a huge possibility. This can make you feel tired ALL the time and for months. Of course knowing whether or not you have mono for sure does take a blood test. Someone i knew got mono in high school and missed like 6 months of school. It can be really deabilitating.
Good luck I hope you figure it out.

PS-Call the county office you live in, there has to be some type of sliding scale clinic or free clinic for you. You really need to do this now.

If it's just been the past few days, you might be fighting off a virus. Just get lots of rest and drink plenty of fluids. If it continues, then see about the county health clinic for a check-up.

Could you be pregnant?! Not being able to keep your eyes open and no energy certainly fit that scenario. But, you really need to see your dr. or free clinic. You need to check into it. Without taking care of yourself, you can't be around for your family.

I agree that you need to see a professional right away. There must be a clinic that can see you for a reduced cost. Your symptoms sound similar to those associated with depression as well as the other suggestions in the responses you've gotten so far. No matter what it is you clearly do not feel like yourself and that is no good for you or for your family. My household is definitely a "if momma ain't happy ain't nobody happy" kind of place so I would be surprised if your family is not aware and worried for you. Good luck and take care!
