I wake up all achy...back, feet, shoulders...then I can't go back to sleep. Does anyone know of anything to soak in that relieves muscle aches? I thought I'd see if soaking before going to bed might help me get better sleep.

Hi M.,
I use a wonderful natural cream called Pain A Trate. It acutally gets absorbed down into the muscles and doesnt just lay on top the skin. I swear by it as I am older now (grandma) and still very physcially active but get a lot of aches and soreness. there is also another product that helps fibromalgia. It is made by a wonderful company and if you want to e-mail I can get you the details.
Epsom salts work great. Also, Shaklee's calcium is extremely bioavailable or absorbent in your system and it can do a lot as a natural muscle relaxant. We also have a joint pain cream that is amazing - it blows away the competition. I can send you a sample if you'd like to try either. Let me know!
Thanks,
K.
epsom salts (magnesium sulfate) in a warm bath water will pull the toxins from the muscles.
Check out their website: http://www.epsomsaltcouncil.org/health_benefits.htm
Also, you might want to drink Tention Tamer tea or Nighty Night tea from Celestial Seasonings. Perhaps you are missing some vitamins - maybe a multi-vitamin and a banana.
You might want to do some yoga and diaphragmatic breathing. Sleep is so very important for healing and resting the body. Make sure that your not leaving the tv on a night and create a bedroom that is a sanctuary of peace.
Blessings,
E.
This is something for your doctor. One thing that comes to mind is fibromyalgia. I have heard alot about this as a nurse, and the one thing that everyone says is that it hurts worse if you rest your joints. I am not trying to scare you, but this is exactly the thing your MD went to school for. Ask her for her advice. Soaking is good, but you should always get the professional opinion-along with these great mamasource folks.
Epsom salts may be worth a try. But also consider looking into a new mattress. If neither of these work, it may be wise to consult your physician
epsom salts usually work, motrin and maybe try flexall 454 or something like that too.
I am not sure as to what you can soak in but I will tell you what I do and I have the same problem...
I sleep on my side with 2 pillows between my legs and 1 under my head and I also hold on to one. This helps to keep the spine inline so I dont wake up as achy as I used to. It is not a cure all but it definately has helped to get rid of some of the pain I had. I used to scream because I could not even move when waking up and would have to have someone help me out of bed over a course of 10 mins. Now I am still a little sore upon waking but I am not crying and screaming anymore!
I might try the epsom salt soaks like everyone suggested! If that could get rid of the rest of the pain I would be thrilled!
Good luck to you and many blessings!
I was told epson salts are good for the all over achy. I woke up that way this morning. NOt fun.
Your problem might be your mattress, M.. I know that my body is very picky about having a certain kind (I like a firm Sealy with a pillow top to soften it.) You might give it some consideration.

I'm an Arbonne consultant. Arbonne is a health and wellness company providing botanically based products for you entire family. We have a "Herbal Vapor Soak". It helps to clear nasal passages and ease aches and pains. This is a product worth trying, plus it's made from plants and herbs. The cost is $15 (plus tax and shipping to you home). I would be happy to talk further with you or order this for you. Arbonne also has a 45 day return policy, so you can't lose. Hope to hear from you. S. Britton ____@____.com ###-###-####
hi m- try soaking in a warm bath with epsom salt before bed. grandma was right! this very inexpensive bath salt can be found at walgreens or costco in a large bag. i am a fitness instructor/personal trainer who teaches and dances/trains all day long and have been bathing in it since my massage therapist recommended it years ago and it works. i sleep great and have less muscle soreness now. i buy the large bag at costco for 2 dollars i think?! also- have you ruled out any issues such as fybromyalgia or are you just sore from exercise?
good luck!
Epson Salt is supposed to allievate aches.

Soak in some warm water with epsom salt. I don't know what your budget is, but if you can afford it, go see a massage therapist and see if that helps. You don't go into a lot of detail. Do you only wake up sore, or do you feel sore through other times of the day? You could ask a massage therapist or your doctor about fibromyalgia if the pain is chronic. If the achiness is just in the joints in those areas, I would also suspect arthritis. Just some things to ask about... Saying all that, I hope it's just that you need to relax before bed, and the warm bath will help, as well as getting a massage.
One glass of wine in hand and soak in some epsom salt always does the job :)
