I would have him checked as it always better to be safe then sorry. Also if he is enrolled in a headstart/preschool program
they should catch it and work with him.

I have a wonderful, active, otherwise normal 4yo son. He did start to talk in full sentences later than my others. For the past 6 months he seems to repeat the last sound in words. He doesn't stutter from the beginning. For instance.. when he says a word that ends in "st" he repeats that sound once or twice after saying the word. It happens with just about any ending sound but doesn't happen all the time.
Have any of you heard of this or had experience with it?

Looks like this post was a couple years ago... I have a son 6 y/o... he was tested by his schools' speech path. His speech is pretty normal.. except for a 'backwards stutter' in which the speech pathologist said she's never seen. He's also very close to being diagnosed with ADHD... S. O... if you read this pls email me as I would love to compare notes and see how your son is doing. ____@____.com thanks...
You have 3 kids, I think you should trust your instincts that something might not be right. Take him to a Dr. or a speech therapist and have it evaluated. Good luck, I hope it turns out ok for you guys.
I would get it checked out now. Have the dr refer you to a speech therapist. If there is an issue, the county IU will come in and give him therapy. Better to start now rather than wait until he's in school. good luck!
Stuttering in general is really common in preschoolers but I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to talk to your ped, it will at least ease your mind AND if there is a problem then it will get noticed. I don't know if this makes a difference to you but my son (just turned 2yr but talks like a 3yr old) does that sometimes (repeats the ending of the word). I've noticed that after he does that for a few days he begins to say those words clearer than he did before. Does that happen with your son at all?
