What time do you take your kids Trick or Treating? I would like to take my daughter this year for the first time. Yea! I was thinking about around 6, is this too early? We only wanted to take her to a few houses and then back, and I LOVE to hand out candy, so I was hoping to have time to do both. Thanks

What can I do next?

Around here, it is typically 6-8 pm (each town sets their own so some maybe start as early as 5:30 up to as late as 9).

We always started at sunset when we were kids. We head out now after we get 1 trick or treater.

6 is not too early. Often communities have official trick or treating hours. In my area it is 5-8pm.

6 is a pretty good time. I think we take my daughter out around then, probably between 6-7 and she's just turned 4. I always stay at home and hand out candy while my husband takes her out in the neighborhood. Maybe you could have a spouse or relative stay at your house and pass out candy while you're away? Personally I have just always felt that we should give out candy since we're taking from neighbors so I choose to stay home and pass out candy. Plus I like to let my husband have this special activity to do with the kids since I'm a SAHM and feel like I get to do a lot with them. I do feel a tiny bit sad that I'm not with them, but it's fun to pass out treats too and my daughter tells me all about when she gets home!

In my neighbor hood it goes form 6:00-9:00pm. Check with the neighborhood, or town to find out the times!

Younger kids usually start at dusk, older kids after it gets dark.

This is a great question. I've seen kids out before 5:00 pm which I think is too early. 6:00 sounds great to me.

I think it depends on your area and the age of the child. I know it is not cold in your area but if it's a cold Halloween I take my son out by 4. 6 is not too early at all. Why only a few houses though? I think I used to go to like 100 houses when I was a kid.

Our downtown starts kids at 3:30, but in residential neighborhoods I think you can start before 5. When my kids were very little, I went out at 4, back home by 5 for trick-or-treaters.
