South Hills Area Daycare

Hi ladies. I moved to the area a few months ago, and I finally have some job interviews lined up this week. Looks like I'll be going back to work full time within the next few weeks, so I need to find a daycare for my 2 year old son ASAP. Does anyone have any recommendations in the Mt. Lebanon area. DH works in Bridgeville and I'll likely be in Oakland, so anything along either of those routes would work.

What can I do next?

The Children's Center in Oakland seems really good - I toured it and talked to the director twice. UPMC employees get first priority, but they will take you even if you are not a UPMC employee - sometimes there is a waiting list for non-employees though, so call right away. It's free to get your name on the waitlist.

Pitt and Carlow also run daycares in Oakland, but I don't know as much about either of those.

I LOVE Wee Care in Scott Township on Lindsay Road. Both of my children went there until kindergarten. My youngest just "graduated" this year and I cried! I really miss the place, and all of the teachers. It is about $10 per day cheaper than ABC's in Greentree, although I hear good things about ABC's too.

Wee Care also provides hot meals for those days that you don't have time to pack. My kids loved their food and learned to eat veggies because their friends were doing it! Incentives for lower cost if you pay at the beginning of the month. This place is great all around. Three families on our street send their children there. Please email me if you have any questions.

We live in Mt Lebanon and work in South Hills and the location was perfect! I would describe it as being in between Mt Lebanon and Bridegeville.

I strongly recommend Wee Care, on Lindsay Rd, ( about a mile behind St. Clair Hospital) - they took care of my daughter since she was 6 months old. They have amazing, talented teachers, lots of field trips, a beautiful clean facility - she loved it and blossomed under their care. Plus they are very, very reliable even on bad weather days - I think they were closed maybe one day in six years for bad weather. Good luck in your decision!

Hi...I also have a 2 year old son and live in Mt. Lebanon. I was looking into daycare about a year ago as I was considering going back to work....here are some ideas...hope they help:

ABC's for Children ###-###-####
I know of some folks who use this daycare and they love it. I have only heard wonderful things about it here...

Marian Manor ###-###-####
It may sound strange, but this elderly facility also has a wonderful daycare. It is highly recommended in the area.

Kids & Us ###-###-####
I was considering this place as it was slightly less expensive -did not care for it for the infant room but it seemed nice for the kids 2 and older. The owner is very nice and I felt very comfortable with her and the staff. They have two locations -one by Virginia Manor and the other by the Bourse Shopping Center (closer to Scott -past the Giant Eagle on Cochran)

If you have any ?'s just let me know...I've lived in Pgh my entire life :)
(this end of town too)
