South Padre Island Question

I am looking for the name of a certain hotel at South Padre. I went to the beach there once, and I remember seeing a hotel that was right on the beach where we were, and people staying on the bottom floor could step out of their patio door and be on the sand, just yards from the water.
Does anyone know which hotel this might have been?

We were in Padre early June, the Bahia Mar is still under construction from the hurricane that hit the island a couple of yrs ago. The Sheraton is nice, great pool, but it is more of a highrise type hotel, the first floor is lobby/restaurant/bar..not rooms. We stayed at Sapphire, also a highrise condo unit, very nice and beachfront, but we had to take an elevator, walk through the lobby, walk past the (very nice and almost always underused) swimming pool, through a gate and then to the beach. Trip Advisor is a great site to compare all the different options of hotels, condos and houses. Enjoy your trip and good luck!!

We stayed at a Holidy Inn, 1st floor on the beach down there many years ago. We opened our sliding glass door for direct beach access. It was about 15 years ago.

My husband and I have gone for the last 6 years after labor day,and stay at Florence 1 or Florence 2 and once at the Iverness. We go through service 24 and have enjoyed our stay everytime. They use to run a special where you pay for 3 nights and get the 4th free but I don't think they are doing that anymore. If you go after peak season you usually can get a condo just a cheap if not cheaper then a hotel room. Hope you find what you're looking for.

The Bahia Mar is on the beach like that, so is the Sheraton (I believe). There is also one other major hotel there, I think it's a holiday inn. A Google search should tell you (I helped with a convention out there, that's why I know the properties a little bit) Hope that helps.

I dont know the name, but perhaps you could call the local Chamber of Commerce (should be in the book) Certainly, they would know if you described it. They could also give you other hotels, none the less.
