C., I use the electronic repelent and I never see spiders. I think that it takes about 2months to be in full effect. I have 3 plugged in throughout the house. Good luck!
I am terrified of spiders and since we bought our house we have seen many. My question is, do any of you moms use electronic insect repellents? I am thinking of purchasing some for the house but not sure if they really work. Thanks in advance!

We get some really big scary looking spiders in our house around this time of year, when it starts to cool off. The BEST defense I've found is Ortho indoor/outdoor spray. You can find it in the lawn and garden center of walmart for sure, and probably any other similar store. You can use it around the outside of the house, as well as inside. After it dries (takes 2 hours) it is completely safe for children and pets. You can even use it in your kitchen safely. It works for EVERYTHING! (ants, roaches, spiders, any creepy crawlies you can think of)
C., I feel your pain.lol. I too freaked out over spiders, yuk, hate even saying the word. My experience with electronic repellents is they do not work!! I really should know, I went thru all kinds of them. My best advice if your going to spend the money spend it on getting your house, yard proffesionally sprayed! God Bless
Home defense all around the outside perimeter of your house will keep those little suckers out!
Hi C.,
I use Hot Shot spray for spiders. It works wonderfully. As soon as I see the first spider, I spray all window ledges, the doorway along the perimeter, the garage doors, both indoor garage door, and the big one. All of these I spray the whole perimeter. And if I have any left, then I spray the ground, mulch area, with it too. I love it. I reuse it every year. Both spring and fall. I don't use anything else. But I have heard that you can get "ugly fruit". I heard that works too. But I have never tried it. Good luck.

A couple of years ago my family had a huge problem with red spiders, they were nasty. We had the outside of our house sprayed but my girls were scared to death of them in their bedroom. One day while my then 9 year old was in school, I went to strip her bed and found one in the sheets. (Never told her that one) I went to Lowe's and found these electronic bug repellents, bought 2 and put them in the girls bedrooms. (They plug into outlets and have an outlet built in so I don't lose an outlet) To this day we have not found a single creepy bug in their rooms. Now I don't know if this is truly from the gadgets I bought, but I can tell you we have found bugs in other parts of the house, but not their rooms. So - - good luck to you, but I do believe they work!!
I don't know about electronic devices but if you want to avoid chemicals try using eucalyptus oil. you sprinkle it around your baseboard like you would the chemicals. It is safer around children and pets. As a bonus it smells good too.
we have lots of spiders to. We live basicaly in the woods. I have Terminix come quarterly and i don't see them until about a week before he comes. Terminix (or any other pest company) will guarntee their work and will respray if you see some in the meantime. It is definatly worth the money i spend. I do not have to put up my food, toys, clothes and move out of the house for 3 days either :)
electronic repellants will not work on spiders.
If you only have a crawl space under your house, get some RAID bombs and set them off under there first, then get some and put them all over the house, even if you keep rooms closed off.
If you have a basement, do that also, and an attached garage, do that as well.
Spiders love dampness!!!!!!!!!!!!
Raid bombs are not expensive. When you go to use them, you need to make sure all food is put away, and cover plants, put away dishes, remove any pets you have, etc... for at least 3-5 hrs.
The bombs take only 1-2 hrs. to finish spraying, but you want to stay out a while, then open windows to air out a little.
I don't know if you're trying to avoid using chemicals or not, but something you could consider is using bombs.
Put them all over the house. Upstairs and down!

Hubby usually sprays the outside perimeter of the house for ants. But our best defense against spiders has been our cats. Through the years we find a dead spider now and then, but usually they stay away as the cats love to hunt them. :)
