Spittin up Still!!

We also saw better results with Prevacid. Also Reglan help aids in faster digestion. BUT my reflux baby continued to spit up until he finally outgrew it at 18mo.

My son has acid reflux and he is six months old. He was on Zantac, but it didn't work. My son now is on prevacid two times a day and it is working very well. If anything ask he you can see a G.I. specialist because I took my son to Dr. Brady at St. John's and he is 110% better.

My son spit up so much that they hospitalized him! I don't know if you have tried Nutramigen formula but it is a pre digested formula that is on the market. Warning: it is outrageously expensive so if you can get WIC do so. Anyway, my son has been doing great on it. Hope that helps.

zantac did nothing for us, we went to previcid (15mg)and it made a world of difference, when he sits up too long(he is practicing to do it on his own!) or in the bumbo seat he does spit up but other than that we are doing great! you might mention it to your ped, i have 2 friends with reflux babies and the zantac did nothing for them either!

Hi I have had that same problem with my 6 month old and a friend of mine has also had that problem. For my friend, she found that changing her baby's formula helped. For me, in the beginning, we changed my daughter's formula to Lactose free and that helped until just here recently. So, you might try that. I hope you find a solution! :)

My daughter spit up until the age of one-all day, everyday. Her pediatrician told me it just a laundry problem. He said some babies are just spitters. If she is gaining weight and not being bothered by the spitting, I would just check with her doctor and see what he/she thinks before giving her unnecessary medication. Good luck, and I sympathize with you-I was doing laundry nonstop.

Drs think medicine. I say see about changing the milk.
We have a WIC program here that supplies milk to moms until the kids are in school and you get well baby check ups, this is done at the health department. It is more than likely the milk.
Enfamil is a good milk and if that doesn't work, try soy. check withe doctor about what I think . Let me know what you do

You may try using the Playtex bottles with the drop in liners because they prevent air from entering their stomach. My daughter used to spit up after every feeding. I changed her bottles and now the only time she spits up is when she doesn't burp well.

My daughter would spit up buckets after any feeding. When she was about 2 mos old, we switched her to a soy formula. She immediately stopped spitting up, and really didn't have any more problems. Her doctor said that about 20% of all babies are unable to digest milk protein. When she turned 1, we switched her to whole milk without any issues.
My son had a problem with acid reflux and was prescribed Zantec. His doctor said that the Zantec wouldn't make him spit up less, but it would help the pain of it and protect his esophageal lining. We only used it for about a month or so, because he never seemed to have any pain with it.

All three of mine are HUGE pukers too....large amounts. None of them eased up on it until about the time they started crawling unfortunately. We tried all of those things too. The docs didn't care too fix it much because all of my kids were still gaining weight. Your baby will most likely be ok, your carpet on the other hand...

My daughter did that too and so did my twin nephews. They put all of them on soy based milk. Which help my daughter, but the twins still had problems. They continued to examine the twins and they were losing a lot of weight. The twin did have to have surgery because the flap that was to open and close while you eat was not staying closed. After they had surgery it fixed it.

The next time u go to the doctor let them know the med isn't helping and see if they have any other suggestions for u.

my son is alomst 9 months old...and he still spits up at times...but when he was around that age...he was constantly spitting up...and sometimes alot...but his dr. just said that he was a happy spitter..and he wouldnt put him on any meds..he just said he would eventually grow out of it...which i think he finally might be..so maybe she just needs sometime...i know it is annoying at times...constanstly cleaning bibs and clothes and the floor and so on...but hopefully it will get better...i dont know if i was much help...but i was just letting you know..she isnt the only little spitter upper out there...lol...well hope it will ease your concern a little...A.

My nephew had a problem with spitting up, and they had him on Prevacid and changed his formula to one that was thickened with corn starch, and that helped until he eventually grew out of this stage.

WHEN MY SON WAS DOING THAT MY DOCTOR TOLD ME TO TRY SOY FORMULA FOR A LITTLE WHILE AND IT WORKED WELL. IT HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH NOT DIGESTING THINGS WELL. THE SOY HELPED CALM THINGS DOWN AND HE, NOW 7 EATS LIKE A BOY OF 10 OR 12. GOOD LUCK

Well do you burp her once when she's at least halfway through the bottle? That helps out a lot because you get whatever gas bubble is there out and it helps her from spitting up after she's through. But as to never spitting up, that's not going to stop, all babies will spit up no matter how hard you try to get them not to, but don't worry about her not getting enough nutrition bc only a little of the spit up is actually her milk, most of it is mucous. I know it's really messy though but just try keeping a bib on her once she's done eating and most of it should just soak into that. I hope I helped a little, good luck, S.

My daughter (who is now almost 4 yrs.) spit up all the time when she was an infant. We would move from burp clothes to towels some days. Her pediatrician never prescribed any medication for her and explained that there is a portion in her throat area that had not completely developed and that over time it would (I apologize, I don't know the technical terms). She spit up until she was heavy into solids (around 6 months). She would still occasionally spit up, but only when she had a lot to drink. Sometime between 6 and 7 months it just stopped and she never spit up again. She is now very healthy and loves to eat. I say wait it out, it sounds like their "conditions" are similar (especially if the zantac isn't working). It does stink, but as long as she is getting nourished and is healthy, i think it's something you may have to deal with.

I had the same problem with my son and he keep spitting up until he turned one!! Our doctor said that it is not a problem as long as he is gaining weight. So I wouldn't worry unless your little one starts losing weight. And it will eventually go away!!!!

What your little girl is experiencing is pretty normal, I think. My youngest daughter was breast fed and spit up ALL the time from reflux. I was afraid that she wasn't getting enough nutrients, but her weight was always fine and her energy level was through the roof. When she was almost 6 months old and we put her on baby food, she would spit that up as well. So, under pediatric advice, we started giving her table food at 9 months, and the problem just vanished. I know it is hard to see your baby spitting up a lot, but she sounds to be very happy and healthy. Just keep tons of burp rags handy for now, and she'll grow out of it before you know it!

It sounds like you have gotten some really good advice from the other moms. My 7 month old did exactly that until I had her tested using the PB Probe test done and they put her on Prilosec, they had to solidify it and add a little flavor to it. However it helped out a great deal. Have them do the test and please keep me posted on how things turn out. My e-mail address is ____@____.com what the Radiologists said anymore 98% of babies have acid reflux. I didn't have this problem with my oldest; however I definitely have it with my youngest.

Have you tried feeding her smaller quantities more frequently?

my 1 year old did the same thing. nothing worked, not the sitting up, she was a breat baby, none of the medicines worked. I didn't really worry as long as she was still gaining weight. We changed Drs whe she as 6 mos. our new dr did osteopathic manipulation and cranial osteopathy. it's similer to chiropractic (not the same but similer) that stoped her sipitting up. and if she started spitting again all i had to do was take her back in and get her another adjustment and it would stop. you may talk to you dr and see if there is a D.O. he recomends for the manipulation. it really works!

When my middle boy did this I had to switch formulas and stop drinking milk and eating eggs. I was nursing and giving him supplemental bottles because my production was low.

Have you tried a soy formula? Some babies are just lactose intolerant for the first few years. use rice cereal instead of oats or mixed cereal and don't get one with fruit in it.

Smaller meals might help, or limit activities to the half hour before a meal instead of an hour after.

If she's not holding up her head yet then skip tummy time for now. Her little tummy can't take the pressure right now.

Way back when my oldest was little I gave up on Similac cause he did the same thing. Soy wasn't an option back then I think. I just switched to whole milk after about 6 months of puke pefumed clothes. I would never recommend this action now.

Hi H., My 5 month old still spits up too. Zantac didn't work so my doc put him on Previcid. It really did't work for my son but my cousins baby was completely better on Previcid. I have been told to feed him less(even though I am breastfeeding) so that there is less in his tummy. Maybe you should talk to the doc about changing formula. I have heard they usually grow out of it by about 8 months. Hang in there, as long as ahe is gaining weight and not too uncomfortable, I wouldn't worry too much.

You might check the iron content. My son puked like crazy and the Zantac did nothing. Prevacid seemed to help some. He wouldn't take a bottle, so I was breastfeeding. At one point, my prescription for iron supplements (the ones they give while pregnant) ran out and I was off of them for a couple of days. It was like someone turned off his faucet! He was virtually "cured" and spit up still happened but more like a normal baby.

My niece was also a projectile vomitter on formula. When her mom switched her to one with less iron, she was much better. Something to try anyway. Good luck.

My son at about 2 months started spitting up massive amounts of formula and it was starting to affect his weight. His doctor put him on Zantac and it seemed to help for about 1 week, and it was all back going strong again. The doctor kept insisting it wasn't his formula because he didn't have classic signs of a "formula allergy", but my husband and I switched him to soy formula on our owns and he stopped spitting up so badly..more like a normal child at that point...as he got older we were finally able to transition him to Lactose-Free formula and now at the age of 1 is off all formula and drinking whole milk without any problems at all.
