Any1 know of any plays,open gyms,1 day classes, anything to keep my almost 5 year old busy? I can usually find something but I've searched and searched and found nothing! I feel like a circus clown trying to entertain her already.
Let her have a friend over! I would have gone crazy trying to keep my kids entertained all day, that's what friends are for :)
Oh, and send them outside if you can!
How about the zoo? I'm taking my daughters tomorrow =)
Exploritorium in Skokie-not very expensive, has lots to do (two story climber, instruments, art, dress-up, etc.). I agree with the library idea, too. Skokie, Glenview, and Wilmette all have great libraries with lots to do. And, for lunch, the McDonald's at the corner of Willow and Pfingsten has a play area that's not bad. Finally, how about Wagner Farm on Lake and Wagner in Glenview? It's free and fun, and has indoor and outdoor activities. The Grove on Milwaukee in Glenview is fun too-great outdoor stuff, as well as wonderful an indoor exhibit with turtles and snakes!
In Bloomingdale there is The Picture Show movie theater it's one of those 1.25 theaters - I was thinking of going to see Hugo or Tin Tin tomorrow with my 5year old :) Check with your park district also, but I imagine most of the camps are full at this time.
These activities are for ages 1-4, but I found that some of thse would be fun for even ME! So the ones towards the bottom are probably more for your daughter's age, as I think it says they're in order of age appropriateness.

We're going mini golfing today. Lots of indoor glow in the dark golf places out there. Do a search for Glowgolf and see what pops up. Good luck :)
Maybe a Metra ride with your little one likes train rides?
I'm on the other side of the country but how about the library? Some of them schedule children's story time. Other ideas- the indoor playgrounds at McDonalds? somewhere to go feed ducks? Michael's and Joann's sometimes offer 1 day craft classes. What about visiting the animal shelter or a pet store? Is there an indoor pool somewhere nearby? go for a nature walk or hike? Is there a nearby mall with an indoor play area?
Some ideas at home- bake cookies, spray shaving cream on a waterproof surface and use food coloring to finger paint, take a bath with a lot of bubbles, build a tent with blankets, invite her friend over for a play date, fly a kite, plan a picnic, go take Dad to lunch near his work?
If all else fails, go for a drive. The change of scenery helps you both feel better and the car does what you ask without complaining or asking "why?"
