Good Morning - I am in need of a new Stand Mixer and I am asking all of you ladies who read MAMAPEDIA to help me out.
I have checked out the KitchenAide, Cuisinart and also the Viking. I like the Cuisinart because it has a 15 minute time and metal gears and housing.
Kitchen Aide has MANY attachments but I don't know if I would ever use them.
I got a Cuisinart Stand Mixer for a wedding shower gift back in 1988 and the motor just went on it so I really have had great luck.
But my question is to all of you: WHICH ONE WOULD YOU CHOOSE - I need peoples opinions on all.
Price is all about the same so that I am not worried about.
Thank you in advance for your input.
C.

Hi Cindy---Looks like you might have the answer you are looking for, but I'll comment anyway. I've had my Kitchen Aide for nearly 30 years. My mom has had hers for longer than that. I don't think you could possibly go wrong. Good luck and have fun.

Kitchenaids are awesome. I have 2 actually.....different colors. They have a lifetime warrannty so anything goes wrong with them they fix it. I have never had good luck with cuisinart stuff. Viking is a good product too, but I have not owned one.

I have had my kitchen-aide since mid 80's and love it. I too make cakes out of my home ( cakes that feed approx.100 ) mostly for Eagle Scouts. I have the 325watt 5qt bowl. "Double" batches of homemade cakes, icings, cookies or whatever have never been a problem. I mostly use the paddle and on occasion the whisk. I also have the meat grinder for making my own very lean meat for burgers. The slicer/shredder attachment is also good for many things, potatoes, carrots, cabbage. I recommend to get the extra bowl and pour spout also. Good luck on your decision.

I really like our kitchen-aide I believe ours is just the classic, but I am not a huge baker, but do use it a few times a month. I also love the attachment features.

I LOVE my Kitchen-Aide, the attachments are sold seperately so unless you think you will use them don't bother......one of my girlfriends "inherited" her grandma's Kitchen-Aide when she passed, not sure exactly how old it is but it has some years on it so they LAST

WIthout question I would choose the kitchen aide! My parents have had theirs for 35 years. The same one and they use it for everything. I have had mine now for 8 years and absolutely love it. Great product and I use it for everything! Good luck and have fun shopping...

I love my KitchenAid mixer. I use it every week or every other week, as I love to cook, and have had it about 7-8 years. It is very durable and I haven't had any problems with it. It is strong enough to mix thick dough. I have the classic and just use the basic paddle, whisk and dough hook that came with it. I don't have any of the other attachments. I do recommend getting an extra bowl, very handy if you are making a cake and frosting. My mom also has a KitchenAid and has had hers for 15+ years and no problems.

I too love my Kitchen-Aide, aka my Martha (as in Stewart)! I've had the 5qt model for over 10 years. I have heard the ones where the bowl screws in is not as good as the model where the bowl goes up and down.
You don't need any extra attachments unless you plan on using them......I bought the grinder, pasta machine, shredder, juicer, you name it......but I don't use them hardly at all. The included whisk, beater and paddle are all I've really used for a long time (I did go through a pasta-making stage, but it was short lasting).
KitchenAide too is all metal parts.....definitely worth the investment.

Kitchen-Aid for sure. The Cuisinart is very big and bulky, and when I played around with the floor model it seems like it would be hard to add ingredients while it is mixing (which I do with my KA all the time). I have a tilt-head model, and it works great. If ever it doesn't mix everything in the bottom of the bowl in, there is a way to adjust it (read the manual) by placing a coin under the bowl and then tightening a screw under the head/arm and it will mix up every last crumb. I am always amazed at what it can power through.

I don't have any great advice other than if you call Cuisinart and tell them that you are so disappointed that your Cuisinart failed you and that you loved it, etc. they may possibly give you a discount on a new one.

Do your research. My husband and I googled all three ( KitchenAide, Cuisinart & Viking). What we found out is that the wonderful KichenAide of years ago is no longer. Now mostly made of plastic gears, they seemed to have a lot of complaints. We almost went with the Viking but ended up with the Cuisinart that also had 800 watts and came with a free attachment (food processor). We purchased it at BedBath & Beyond w/a 20% off coupon at hundreds cheaper than the 800 watt Viking. Also the Cuisinart has a 5 year warranty. Since Christmas we have put it through the ringer. We love it. We love the timer and it mixes everything. Adding items into the bowl while mixing is also no problem. Take the time to Google each and read what users love and hate about each.

i have a kitchen aid and LOVE It. Actually the one I own, is the one my parents got when they were married 38 years ago. My mom wanted a bigger one, so she bought the bigger model and I got the old one. It still runs just as good as a new one.

You only get the whisk, bread hook, and the paddle, everything else you buy extra, and you don't need to buy them at all. I would recommend the one where the bowl goes up and down. my sister had the one where it screws in, and hated it, she finally gave that away and bought with it going up and down. I feel that it's more secure in there.
