Starting a New Business

I run a small business out of my house in Keller. I get a lot of business through face book, so if you are on FB definitely post there. Tag your clients you may be friends with to help spread the word. And see about a business site. Maybe advertise in the Keller CItizen? I am not sure of the cost, but even when I don't read it, I scan it to see what's going on. Offer some sort of deal to your current clients if they bring in new clientele. Magnetic car signs. I've looked into those, and they aren't terribly expensive. Have business cards printed up. So if any opportunity comes up...any at all... you can pass out cards. I usually give out three at a time so the person has one for themselves and two to give away. ANd if there is babysitting offered for those with kids make sure that is mentioned everywhere. I couldn't even consider a class if I didn't have someone to watch my daughter.

Make sure you check on a commercial insurance policy to see how much it will be. Its for your protection so you don't lose all you've worked so hard for. Good luck!

Congratulations. First I suggest you have good tax and legal counsel as well as good liability insurance. If you are going to be collecting monies from people, you'll need the proper TX state permits and government tax id numbers. Good counsel can walk you through those steps pretty easily.

As for marketing and advertising, there are numerous ways to have some effective advertising... a bit late right now but schools publish school directories and sell ads for them, the high schools sell advertising for the sports activity programs that are sold at all the football games and sporting events, etc, our HOA has a website where you can advertise.

I would check with the local papers and weekly news like NeighborsGo, we have Allen Image and Plano Profile so I am sure Keller has some sort of neighborhood magazine as well. A facebook page and website can help. We have our website through Yahoo at $14/month. We designed it.

We run our company from home but we are geared toward manufacturers so we do not advertise at all, they come to us. We do brokering/consulting/recycling of raw materials.
