Strange Blisters

Hi all,

This past Saturday I woke up with my cheek a little stuck to my pillowcase. For a second I thought maybe I had forgot to wash my makeup off the night before, but nope, I did. When I sat up my cheek had a little tickly itch so I reached up to scratch it and felt strange bumps. I went into the bathroom and when I looked in the mirror I had a small patch of clustered blisters forming on my cheek. I do get fever blisters/cold sores here and there (but always only on my lips) and this is what this patch looks like but about an inch wide worths. I googled what this could be and I've definitely ruled out:

1: Not a spider bite
2: Not a reaction to poison oak/ivy/sumac
3: No bed bugs
4: Not dirty pillowcases
5: Not ringworm
6: Not eczema

As far as an allergic reaction to something, the only thing I could pin it to would be I started using a new Clinique product 3 weeks prior but I really don't think it's that. The product touts it is allergen free and non-comodegenic. Besides, I put it all over my face so why it would focus in on this one spot on my cheek doesn't make sense.

So, anyone else ever have this happen? The blisters don't itch nor do they hurt, they are just there. Oh, and there is a little swelling around this blisters as well. Seriously, what is wrong with my face??

Thanks!

What can I do next?

I'm no doctor, but could you have microscopically scratched it (with a finger nail?) that allowed a virus to get in? MRSA comes to mind. I'd let your doctor or dermatologist take a quick look.

I second MRSA (not a virus but an antibiotic resistent bacterial infection) or some sort of staph infection. What about chicken pox? Ever had it as a kid?

And, I do have a friend who can not use Clinique anything. She gets terrible rashes and sores from their products. Interestingly, she also got a weird skin infection on her face two years ago. She doesn't know how. It was some rare antibiotic resistent skin infection, but not MRSA. It took a long time to heal, but she was told it will always remain dormant in her system. EEK.

Whatever it is, I'd get it checked right away. You wouldn't want to be sporting something communicable or something that requires extreme hygiene on your part so others won't be at risk. There is also the possibility you need antibiotics...the sooner you get em the better.

I would rule out MRSA, that is a painful virus.

That's how poison oak & sumac present on me. I don't get posion ivy and only react a tiny bit to poison oak & sumac with tiny blisters that itch and take FOREVER to go away.
Go to the doctor - could be MRSA but probably something like impetigo.

If it's shingles, you need to get started on the meds RIGHT AWAY or else they are not nearly as effective. Drs are seeing more and more cases of shingles at a young age. Go get it checked right away to ease your mind and make sure it's not shingles, so you're not in such a world of hurt with it--and also to rule out MRSA or other resistant skin infection. After touching the blisters, be sure to wash very thoroughly. Change your pillowcase every day.

My thoughts went straight to impetigo. Time to see the dr. especially with it on your face.

I have no idea what they could be. I would keep them covered and get into an urgent care. I am a do it yourselfer in most cases but if you don't know what is causing this have a doctor take a look. Next time (if there is one) you will know.
