Strange Bumps - North Platte,NE

Well I just got another one of the strange lumps in my thigh. I usualy think its the stupid ingrown hairs or pimple like things I often get down there, but this one, like many before it, is on the inside of the thigh, right up where it it basicaly connects. Times it seemed to be a pullen muscule or inflamed for some reason or another, they come and go, though usualy nothing I can do to get them to go away. They just go away on their own. But got another one today, I can feel the silly bump when I walk, or try to sit, I can grab the bump though the skin, I don't know if its free forming, or attached like a balled up musle. As I can't really see that far down there, its hard to make sure its not some stupid in grown hair. but heck, the dang thing hurts, like they all have. Any clues to what it might be?

And again. I won't be going to the doctor unless it becomes so painful I can't stand it. We really can't afford it and their are no free clinics around here. We are already in debt with the doctors office we normaly go to.

What can I do next?

are you sure they aren't Skin tags?

Sometimes in areas of the body that rub against eachother, i.e the inner thigh, arm pit, back of the knee etc. You can grow these lil tags. Are they dark? the same color as your skin? How big are they??

It may be spider bites. Over the course of the last two years, I had a necrotic spider bite at the top of my pubic hairline, and both my boys have gotten bitten as well (one on the back of his head, and the other on his leg). Very nasty bites, lumpy - red with a lighter center - you definitely can feel the hard lump under the skin (ours were approx the size of your finger or thumb nail), painful, initially looks like an ingrown hair, but when the 'pimple' pops (let me repeat PAINFUL), it is pus filled and looks infected. We treated the wounds with hydrogen peroxide, neosporin, and antibiotics. We also called an exterminator out to treat the house and have had no problems since. Hope you can figure out what is going on so that you can prevent it from recurring. Good luck.

You have lymph nodes there, in the groin area. We have lymph nodes all over the body in various places. A swollen lymph node there could be due to a local infection in that area.

Bumps or lumps that seem like they might be similar to herpes but have pus can be caused by candida overgrowth or staph infection .

Take lugols iodine, 4 drops in a cup of water every day, to help clear infections out....This wont 'cure" an infection but will help somewhat.

Please see a Dr. ASAP! Those "strange" bumps in my groin area turned out to be swollen lymph nodes and were THE ONLY symptom I had that led to stage 3B diagnosis of anal cancer! Please go check!

Hi there,

This sounds similar to something my son had when he was very small. He had a staph infection in his lymph nodes. It started as a very swollen bump near the area you are referring to. As the days went on, he developed a fever and eventually had to go to the ER. They cut it open and drained the puss, then put him on IV antibiotics for 2 days ( staph that was resistant to normal antibiotics).
Yours could certainly be just swollen lymph nodes, but I would watch it. If it gets red at all or painful, you may want to get to the dr.
Good luck to you!

Hi Lacey - I didnt read the other responses but do you think it's possible it is a swollen lymph node? Everyone has them in their armpits, in their necks and in the groin area.

Since it's hard, large and sore and they have been coming and going for a while, then the safest thing would be to give your doc a call. You may be a little run down and your body is fighting something.

all the best!

Yep, I know exactly what you are going through... I've been to several doctors with the same thing. Finally found one who knew what it was and referred me to a specialist. My cases are not as severe as others, so the specialist said they could remove some of the tissue in that area, to combat the problem. I opted not to, since my cases are not that severe.

That being said, they can get EXTREMELY painful. Before I found a doc who knew what it was, I had a few surgically removed. That didn't take care of the issue.

Here is what I do... I have to wait until it gets to the point where I can't stand it much longer. At that point, you should be able to tell where the "head" is. I take a small pin or needle, disinfect it, then (gulp) pierce the head.

It is disgusting... revolting... painful. But it works. Be prepared with lots of kleenex. The amount of pus/infection that comes out can be alarming at times! Try to "work" all the infection out, by pushing from all sides of the area towards the hole you created with the needle. It will hurt like you-know-what, but it will take care of the problem. I always follow up with some hydrogen peroxide on the area, once the infection is removed.

You will feel almost immediate relief. The key is to let it get inflamed enough, where the infection is easier to remove. If you do it too early, you'll end up piercing it multiple times, which gets REALLY painful.

Good luck - sorry to hear this - but know you're not alone!
