Can even a short period of stress (1-2 weeks) cause your period to be late? My period is late and I know I can't be pregnant. It would be like a 0.01 percent chance. I have never had a late period in my life. I have heard of stress causing this but even when I have been stressed before it has never happened to me. I had a very stressful two weeks this month, where I was dealing with intense anxiety over a health issue that turned out to be nothing but it really took a toll on me for that 1-2 weeks. I am back to my happy self for about the last week. Could something that short cause the delay?

What can I do next?

yes, you can even just skip this cycle entirely. Your hormones were perhaps disrupted during ovulation, and you can simply skip this ovulation and be right back on track next month. If you skip another cycle, then see a doctor. In college I skipped 3 months, was not pregnant, and was put on the pill to even out my cycles. There are also pregnancy tests now that are so sensitive they can check for pregnancy pretty much right after missing your period.

Stress can definitely cause your period to be late. I was without a period for 3 months due to stress. You will get back on track. Don't worry. I went to an acupuncturist and the next day I started my period. Your body will get back itself but the acupuncture was an added bonus and helped me when i did get pregnant and throughout my pregnancy. Take it easy.

yes stress can cause yourperiod to be late - so can health problems - were they your health issues? My hsuband and I recently saw a counselor to help us figure out how to deal with an issue with one of our kids. He remarked that women's cycles are so very intense form a hormonal level that most men would never be able to function with the extreme physiological changes that take place from day to day and week to week. So yes - stress can change your cycle. I hope that all is now well.
