There is therapy. But you need a doctor's evaluation to know exactly what sort of speech difficulty it is (there are various types) and what to do about it. So that's your first move.
does anyone have a child that stutters? Is there anything that can be done to help improve speech?

Is it a phase? My son stuttered at about 3 or 4. On and off for about 10 months.. The doctor said it was TOTALLY normal... Their brains are not keeping up with their mouths :)
Don't know the child's age but therapy can help and also sometimes it's emotional or stress causing it. Check with your doctor about therapy and the best place to go.
Don't know what your situation is at all but my nephew had a very bad stuttering/stammering problem that developed around the time my sister and her husband separated. It continued for almost 2 years until he was in a stable place emotionally. He took the separation VERY hard These two factors seemed directly related in his case. Hope you find help!
If your child is preschool aged, you can request an evaluation from the school district (at least that is what you can do in NJ), and then probably get special services if the child meets the criteria for that. Once they are in elementary school, there will probably be a speech therapist. But you want to work on the stuttering before elementary school if possible. If there is no pre-k evaluation in CT, then you can find a therapist on your own and many are covered by health insurance.
Good luck,

What does your doctor say? Have you had any kind of professional evaluation done? What do they recommend?
