You might have to see the physician to get ointment. Always put sunscreen on children that age no matter if the sun is out or not.

Hi A., I have found that cortizone creme or ointment is the best. You can get it at any dollar store. Just smear it on and it take the sting out and the soreness really quick. Apply it several times for a couple of days it's the best.
Preparation is the key if you KNOW you will be outside, especially with your children. USE a sunscreen daily. Make a habit of it personally and for your children.
I'm sorry your children are in pain....aloe,tylenol or noxzema are what I would recommend. I have never been burned nor has my daughter....though we have skin type that is not as likely to burn (Native American/Italian) we still faithfully use sunscreen.
Simple question....on your keyboarding....are you using shortcuts on your words? It is a little difficult to figure out what you are asking or advising (previous posts as well) due to the errors (or shortcuts) No offense....
Solarcaine spray (with lidocaine)
Aloe Vera from the fridge mixed with hydrocortisone ointment
Milk on paper towels
Vinegar in tepid bathwater
TYLENOL by weight for the pain and inflammation

It is best to never allow our skin to burn at all. We should always protect it from burn with clothing and limiting our time in the sun. But if you do get burnt, my natural remedies for kids book says- soak in cool bath as it will lessen the pain and moisturize the skin. For an extra-soothing soak, treat bathwater with 1/2 cup of oatmeal. Wrap the oatmeal in a washcloth and let it soak in the tub, you can also rub this oatmeal-filled wash cloth on the skin. Other tips were... apply cold compress as needed. Drink lots of water- dehydration often accompanies sunburn.
But for next time, always avoid getting sunburnt!!

Milk of Magnesia is the best thing I have ever used. Since the kids are so young, dress them in lighweight shirts and pants, then soak their clothes in the Milk of Magnesia at the sun burned areas and keep it moist, rewetting with the M/Magnesia as needed, a turkey baster works well for this process. It will take all the redness and the pain out of the skin and stop the blistering. Usually works within a couple of hours after beginning the applications. I know it sounds strange, but it works....been there, done that!
A little vinegar in their baths with help with the sting and take the red out.
I'm sorry that Carolyn made you feel bad I'm sure you didn't get up this morning and think "I think I'll let my kids get sunburnt today." And it's not like the weather was 100 degrees out there or anything. Anyway I have also heart lemon juice will work I've never tried just heard several people say that.
They make a aloe that has pain relief in it. It really helps with the sting. You can find it with the sunscreen.
Take brown paper bags and cut them up in to pieces, crinkle them up real good then soak them in brown vinigar, then place them on the sunburn. It doesn't smell the greatest but it will take the sting out of the burn and help it to tan.
You can also use Noxzema, just rub it on to the burn and leave it.
Those are the 2 things I always keep around during the summer.
