We are HUGE football fans, and my youngest son's team made the Super Bowl...party! We are only having family over, but still want to have a fun spread. What kind of items do you put out for muching?

We do appetizers for football all season long and these are some of the things we have done:
pigs in a blanket
meatballs
chicken wings
pizza rolls
veggies/dip
chips/dip
7 layer dip
Frito pie
Pork BBQ sliders
cheese/pepperooni/crackers
spinach dip
taquitos

Do you all have different and fun finger type foods that you put out? Looking for some new ideas. Thanks!

When the Saints played (and won), we invited people over to watch the game, and I made a big pot of jambalya.

If the Saints aren't playing, I just tune in for half time if they have an entertainer I like, but I don't make it a party.

All of those sound great! One thing I made that was super popular were jalapeno poppers in phyllo cups. Yum! I took about 40 to a party, they were gone in 15 minutes. Here's a link to the recipe.

Home made potato skins. Wash potatoes and rub with oil and coarse salt. Bake. Cool. Scrape out insides leaving some potato. Add shreaded sharp cheddar (or any shredded) cheese, bacon pieces and scallions. Broil until melted. Serve with a dollop of sour cream and even guacamole if you want.

Mine go SO FAST!!

We also do, chicken wrapped bacon dredged in brown sugar and chili powder. Hot artichoke dip, rice balls, Swedish meatballs (all you need for sauce is equal parts grape jelly and chili sauce - sounds gross but is awesome).

A popcorn buffet bar.
ie:Using bowls, fill it with popcorn of all types/flavors, have things on the side to sprinkle on it, melted butter on the side to add more if a person wants to, use disposable paper cups or bowls to put it in so the person can hold it easily and munch away so it is not messy.

2) cheese sticks with salami rolled around it.

3) have various types of Salsa.... and people can use it with anything. Salsa is fun, and it can be eaten with anything, not just for chips.

You look like you're pretty well set in the meat, Mexican and chip department.

Here's a fun thing to make fruit look good: a "porcupine"! Buy a half or whole watermelon, depending on the number of people. Scoop out the flesh from half the watermelon, leaving the rind intact. Wash the green surface of the watermelon. Get an assortment of fruit in different colors, and cube them: the watermelon you just scooped out, chunks of honeydew and cantaloupe, green and red seedless grapes (cut in half if they are big), kiwi (peel and cut up), pineapple, any berries you like, etc.

Turn the watermelon over so the flat cut side is down and put it on a paper towel so any juice is absorbed. Use a sharp knife or skewer to poke holes about an inch apart. Get some party toothpicks - I like the longer ones with a little arrowhead on the pointy end because they hold the fruit better. Line up your fruit chunks by color, then spear 3-4 different fruits (alternating colors) in any order. Stick the completed spear into a hole in the watermelon. Keep doing this, randomly, with any 4 fruits per pick, until the whole think looks like a porcupine. I used to be a little to rigid about this and made symmetrical patterns, but as soon as one person chooses a pick, the design goes out the window! Now I just don't put 2 of the same color together, like watermelon and strawberry or honeydew and kiwi. You can put any extra fruit chunks around the rim of the watermelon on the platter.

It's a good way for kids to eat fruit and to put out a healthy and sweet alternative to the salty, spicy and traditional comfort foods you already have on the menu. If you're out of time, you can buy the fruit already cut in chunks.

I made buffalo chicken meatballs a few weeks ago and they were a huge hit. You can google the recipe - it was on a site that had lots of healthy & weight loss recipes if that helps.

chopped chicken meat,
elery, green onions & carrots in the blender
panko (instead of breadcrumbs)
crumbled blue cheese
1 or 2 eggs
hot wing sauce (Franks is the standard)

Everyone loved them, my kids devoured them at home, they were cleaned out at the party I brought them to, etc.

Mozzeralla sticks?

My mom makes a pork dip that is awesome with corn chips. 1 Lb pork sausage, browned and drained. 1 8oz cream cheese, 1 can of orginal Rotel. keep mixing until the cheese is melted. We are actually addicted to this. We will be making it for our super bowl house. :)
