Super Glue on Table

Ok, I did a stupid thing, I used super glue to glue on of my daughters toys back together and it squirted on my table. Not thinking I grabbed a napkin and tried to wipe it up. Big mistake!!! Tried to get it off quickly but didn't make it. Now I have two white spots on my table that I can't get off. This is a wood table that is stained a maple color. Also surrounding the white spots, you can see where the glue 'stuck' in a little puddle. My only saving grace on that is you can only see it if the light is on and at an angle. Anyone have any ideas of how to remove this glue without removing the finish on the table? Any suggestion would be helpful. Tried nail polish remover already but was afraid that would eat the finish. Scrubbed with scouring pad too, no good. Please help!!!

Thanks,

E.

Look in the Yellow Pages for a furniture repair person. These people are miracle workers. My kids and I have done damage to furniture in the past, and I've called someone who does furniture repair and you'd never know there was a problem with the table (ours was sharpie marks!!!)

I recommended Sol-U-Mel to the mom with marker on her couch, and that would be about the only thing I could think of that might work on this. I know it will not harm the wood finish, but am not sure if it will get the glue off. Definitely worth a try. You can go to Melaleuca's website to get it or buy it from someone who sells Melaleuca (they're a direct marketing company sort of like Pampered Chef, etc).

E.,
If you find a good solution, please share. We had this happen during a children's party at my house a few months ago. I would love to remove it safely and preserve the finish on the table.

Have you ever used the Mr. Clean Magic Erasers? I don't know if they will work on super glue, but it does work on nearly everything else I have tried. It would be worth a try because I have used it to get permenant marker off a wood table and it worked and didn't hurt the table at all! Good luck=)

I recently heard that Deep Woods OFF! with Deet will remove superglue. I have no idea what it will do to your finish, so you might want to test it first. Good Luck!

Carefully use fine sandpaper on the spot, being careful not to sand down into the finish, just sand the paper and glue itself off. If you accidently do sand down into the tables finish, rubbing the spot with an almond sliver should help the spot blend in with the rest of the table. Using almonds on any kind of wood scratches works pretty good.

hi,
I worked in a dental office where many "super" adhesives are used. We had a product called Orange Solvent, it removed everything from everywhere without doing damage. It is an oil. I don't know if you can find it outside of the dental world though.

Good luck!

After repeated use the magic eraser took the finish off my table. You could try goo gone but don't know what it will do to the finish, you would have to try in a hidden area first. Nail polish remover is the only thing that I know works, but also not sure about the finish. Good luck
