Has anyone ever been a surrogate mother or and egg donor? I have been throwing up the idea for about 4 years on and off now and I was wondering if anyone else had ever thought of it or even done it. Thanks everyone!

What can I do next?

Hi B.,

Being a surrogate was something I had always wanted to do as my parents best friends struggled with infertility for many MANY years. About 3 years ago an online friend went thru the process. I went with her for her embryo transfer and such. Here I am 3 years later starting the medications for my own transfer at the end of August. I've wondered if anyone in the Berks CO area even think about being a surrogate, or anything similar, but never knew how to broach the subject as some people are so against it with children in the world that need to be adopted.

That would be a great thing for you to do. I have been with my boyfriend John for 10 years and we have no children. I am 45 and he is 39 and I have a daughter that is 16. We have tried and tried to have a child and we love each other very much. It has really taken a toll on our relationship now because he can't live without having his own child. we are now going again to the Reproductive Center again in Youngstown Ohio to get a donor and will be looking for a surrogant mother. I hope this works out for us so we can be happy we both want this more than anything. I am sure if you do that you will be helping some family out so much you will never know how much.

I thought about doing the Surrogate Mother but I dont think that I could go through the whole thing and then just give the baby up...

I have also been thinking about becoming a surogate. I have researched it and found an agency that I feel would be great. I plan on persuing it when I return to Erie in October. I think it takes a special person to help another couple experience the wonderful joy of parenthood. here is the link to the agency I liked the most out of many that I looked into.....www.becomeasurrogatemom.com

I have considered doing both. I actually went as far as to fill out an application with a company and was planning on going through with the surrogacy but didn't because my husband lost his job right when this was supposed to play out. Since he lost his job I didn't feel that I would be in the right frame of mind to carry a baby for someone else.

I think the idea of it is a wonderful thing. I have close connections with people who are unable to carry babies to term and feel for the void that the feel because of it.
