Teachers, What Would You Want Someone to Pray About for You?

I belong to a group that prays for our teachers and administrators and our personal students in our high school. I have prayed for elementary and middle school as the boys grew up. Along with praying for teacher's wisdom, we pray for their safety, for kids to respect them, for God to give them good family time, for excellence in their teaching and a great relationship with God. If we know specifics, and sometimes they tell us, then we pray for that also. I would like to know if there is something we are not covering that you would find helpful? I am speaking to believers.

ETA, personal peace and patience are great ones! Yes, we pray for all our teachers, believers or not! We pray specifically by name. We are up to the Ts! Dawn, we also pray that the teachers are respectful of their students! I have see some bad burn out. Specific prayers for the right words are always needed. I would say your prayers are being answered! Keep it coming!

So What Happened?

Its so heartwarming to see teachers who pray for their students. May God work in their lives. What I hear you saying is you would like add to our prayers: Prayers for Connections to your students, for them to truly know you care for them. That you would like to have the right words at the right times to reflect your character and God's character. To have your ears open to your students and to be discerning about what they say or don't say. For the energy and patience to make a good difference in your classroom. For wisdom to exchange challenges for growth and success. For personal peace, a place of rest inside you that makes your interactions peaceful and your responses, wise. To bare the burden of these standardized tests that force your time into roles that you don't intend. For your students to be successful and reflect the accomplishments of your students and you, fairly, on those tests. For students you know have personal challenges like pregnancy and disfunctional families to overcome and power through, realizing you care. For the chance to form your foundation on God and see the transformation of your weaknesses to His Strength. May Our Heavenly Father grant you and all teachers, all these requests and the ability to meet every challenge with His Strength. In Jesus's name. Thank you for your input!

PATIENCE. It's hard trying to motivate those kids who are the toughest to reach, and they're the hardest to work with. The more patience you have the more you have the stamina to keep trying with those kids.

I am a teacher but not a "believer"... do I get prayers for the kind of things you mention? Cause I'm very sure all teachers could use prayers in the world of education right about now.

One thing that I pray for MYSELF when I'm teaching is for God to give me the right words to say to children, whether it's an easy problem or a hard one. Especially when I have to be firm with them.

That simple wish and prayer emcompasses so much - patience, appropriateness, caring, not becoming jaded. I see so many teachers who have been teaching for many years, hate their administration and the politics of the schools, and let it pour over into the classroom, and have terrible attitudes about the kids they teach.

It's hard to like little (or big) troublemakers. It's easy to like the easy kids. But teaching is also a type of a MISSION. We can at least try to make a difference for these kids. I hope that I make a difference in some small way to my kids.

Hope this helps,
Dawn

Thank you for your prayers. I am a teacher and especially this time of year we really need prayer. Everything that was listed is right on but I also think that more prayer is needed for the pressure we face with the stanardized tests. I pray for wisdom to get students ready and for students to perform their best. Not very many students take this seriously but starting next year they are going to determine the fate of the teacher. Talk about stress! We also have a lot of roles. I am not only responsible for teaching but being a friend, a parent, caregiver, and listening ear. I care for each of my students deeply and it bothers me when something is going on for them. I often have a student I would bring home if I could.
Thanks again for the prayers! I need them!

For energy to be and give my best to my students that day.

For wisdom to turn challenges into teaching and learning opportunities.

For a tender, compassionate heart that reflects warmth and caring.

For ears to hear what's behind what a student is saying, and an open heart to reach out.

To remember that challenges are given to us to help us become stronger.

To remember to put the Lord first in my heart and in my day so that I can respond to each thing that comes with His wisdom, grace, patience, mercy and love.

Thank you for your prayers. We can use all we can get! =)

Patience :) I have always heard " don't pray for patience, because in order to have patience you will have to have trials." But I constantly pray for patience because I KNOW that I will have trials! LOL

I also pray for connections to my students so they can feel my love for them. Does that make sense? I have some students from some pretty rough backgrounds and it breaks my heart to think of a child ever thinking that they weren't loved. I know they hear me say it, but I want to find that way into their heart so they BELIEVE it.

I think this is a wonderful thing you are doing.

Every night I pray for my students who are struggling with their own personal situations and don't have the support at home that they should have. I also pray that I will set a good example for my students. They need good role models, and I know that they learn more by what they see than by what I say, so I hope that I'm showing them what they need to see (compassion, strength, respect).

Thank you for doing this. :)

I belong to the same moms prayer group for our school. The group has been such a blessing for our family. Thank you for your prayers for that school.

We have prayed for the relationships between all the teachers/co-workers.
